Mark felt nervous today. It was his first day of his new life. When the king told him he wanted to help, he really meant it. The King brought Mark to the “actual” city he lived in, Mark was only in the slums of it. It was beautiful. It was like a sea of technology and magic. Dragons roamed the skies while cars cluttered the streets. He told Mark about how the town came to be and why it was so important. It was important because of its schools, MAINLY because it helps student master their special powers. He wanted Mark to feel accepted in the city, so he offered a free scholarships and a dorm. Mark was in tears. No one had ever been so kind to him. That was two years ago. He wasn't able to start then due to his age. He had to be 15, but now that he was, he was so excited. He approached the school ground shyly, but excited. It was vibrant with life. He looked around and watched as student impressed each other with their powers. There were student with flames emitting from their fingertips, some with water dancing in their hands, and others he couldn’t even figure out what they were doing. Everyone was practicing their powers, smiling, laughing. He felt like this would be a new start. He smiled brightly. He started walking to the front doors and saw a black girl with a clipboard. When she saw him, she smiled brightly. She seemed to be 4’8, roughly. Her hair was dark brown and poofy, like a cloud. She was dressed in a green jacket with a check mark on the chest, and jeans that seemed too tight to wear. “You must be Mark. Im Rhyen, Rhyen Hartz.” “I..I’m Mark. Um….were you waiting for me?” She nods her head. “The king told me to show you around. Show you your classes and your dorm.” She opens the front door and motions Mark in. He was nervous, but she seemed to know what she was doing. “So your first class will be sewing, second is cooking, third is art, fourth is math, fifth is science, sixth is power mastery, seventh is poetry, and eighth is spell casting.” Mark tried to keep up with she pointed classes out and told him what they were. He was confused when she started rambling on about the schools history, the students, and the teachers. Mark just nodded his head, he didn’t want to seem like a jerk. After a while she showed him to his dorm. “Ok well, if there is anything else you need, just ask.” She handed him the key and with a wink, she walked off. He smiled shyly and unlocked the door to his dorm, his new home. The dorm was HUGE. There was a living room, a kitchen, two bedrooms with their own bathrooms, and a large closet. He felt a wave of pride and sadness fill him. He flopped down on the couch in the living room and reached into his shadow, pulling out Sarah’s toy bunny. He smiled and set it on the coffee table, then he slowly drifted to sleep.
