The years passed very fast for Dan, soon Msi’ was already fifteen and now she was so high that reached him to the shoulders, the people of that planet was a little higher, in fact, there, what less drew attention from Dan was his stature.
That afternoon had passed very normal, both had woke up early ready to collect next to the girl’s little brother, Tí'paayu, whose name meant Eagle. Ever since the boy was born, Tukusmákal slept at his side, where Msi’ rested before, so the girl began to sleep on Daniel's rug, he had always had trouble falling asleep, but with his arrival at the peaceful jungle even that changed, to the point of sleeping up to eight hours in a row, even with the girl recharged between his arm and chest.
–Our processes are different so we live longer, so to save numbers we manage our ages for lusters or clusters of five years.
–I don’t understand.
–Well, let's just say, what you grow in a year, I grow it in five.
–Then, how old are you?
–In years? Emm, one hundred, thirty–one.
–Daniel, you're older than Chief Tajak Tay.
–Yes, but on my planet It would be say that I have twenty–six lustrums.
–And isn’t it boring to live so long?
Dan hesitated a moment.–Yes, kind of, but it offers you the possibility to travel by the universe and meet a small adventurer.
Msi’ smiled at him and they continued to harvest while Típaayu played among the plants.
–By the way, muult kekoo, I discovered that the radar of my capsule still works, and it turns out that in a couple of days there will be a rain of stars that will be visible.
–Rain of stars?
–Yes, it's a curious phenomenon in which you can see many shooting stars, I'm sure you'll love it, do you want to see it?
She knew that for Dan everything in her world was a surprise, so the fact that he wanted to show her something, made it very interesting. So she smiled excitedly and nodded.
–Of course.
Suddenly Tí'paayu appeared and said a few things.
–He says he's tired already, can you carry him?
Dan didn't think it twice and put the boy on his shoulders.
–We just need an open space to watch the show.
–I know a perfect place, next to the big waterfall.
–Which one?
–Haven’t I ever taken you there? It is southwards, on the other side of the village.
–No.
–Excellent! then we'll go there later.
Enthusiastic, they continued their chores until lunchtime, then, the three of them escaped to the waterfall. They walked for a moment and soon began to hear the force with which the water crash against the stones, until finally they arrived at the place, where an immense fall of water prevented the passage. Daniel and Típaayu stared in amazement at the top of the waterfall, which faded with the light of the sky and the steam.
–It's huge.
–Yes, it is the great waterfall 'maat chipam, at its top grows a very rare and rich fruit, with a very beautiful flower. But getting it is very difficult, a long time ago a koleeu who ventured to cross the cliffs, discovered the fruit. Delighted took it home and shared it with the others, so the bosses decided to try to get it. That's why a group of men were sent to build a bridge, a young man threw an arrow with the initial rope towards a tree on the other side and from this side the rope was tied to another tree and from that everything else was armed. For a long time the bridge served to facilitate the harvesting of the fruit, until one night, a great storm struck, the next day the people discovered that all that was left was the starting string.
–Then they didn’t try again?
–No, the first time, a boy died and it was decided not to put anyone else at risk, but that's not the end of the story, long after, my father fell in love with my mother and went with my grandfather to ask for her hand in marriage, so he said to my dad that he'll only allow him to marry her if he brought one of the flowers.
–And your dad did it?
–Yes, he crossed the waterfall hanging on the rope, only with his hands, and on the other side took the flower and carry it back, tired, he showed his treasure to my grandfather and managed to marry my mom.– Said lifting her little brother in arms.
–Now I know who you got it from.
–What thing?
–Your reckless attitude.
They both laughed at the comment and set out to go home, when Daniel, noticed something in the shrubbery that surrounded the waterfall. A hole.
–Look at that.
–What's going on? –Msi’ asked looking back.
–A cave.
Dan, who always carried his tools to explore, took out one of his weapons and slowly came up to the edge of the entrance. A lamp on the top of his pistol lit up and the young man could see that the place was empty, made the plants aside and beckoned the boys to enter. Already in the place the three looked at the walls adorned with many drawings.
–These are very old stories.
–You didn’t know this place?
–No, I had never come here.
Suddenly, Dan saw a drawing at the bottom of the cave, where there was a luminous circle in the sky, surrounded by mountains.
–Hey muult kekoo, what is this?
Msi’ approached him and watched.
–It's the story of Meltí 'ipá Jalá.
–This is ... it's the light.
Daniel had found an immense resemblance between the drawing and the orb which he had seen so many days in the LIFE.
–The light of your planet?
–I'm almost certain. Could that be possible?
–What?
–When I was a child they taught me that the light was from our planet, that it only came out of this to bring new energy from the universe and thus to continue with the development of our world, but we were never told about it visiting other planets and giving them life like ours, I thought it only used the other worlds to recharge itself, but apparently that is not true. I was never told that there were more living planets in the universe.
–What do you mean?
–That maybe the light I know came to your planet years ago, and gave you life, maybe it's Meltí 'ipá jalá.
–Do you think so?
–I don’t know. I meant, it isn’t strange to think that in the infinity of the space there can be other beings, but, doesn't seem much coincidence to you?
Msi’ shrugged, she didn’t quite understand what he meant. Dan decided not to overdo it and together they returned home. Nevertheless he remained very quiet for the rest of the day, and the more he thought it, more logical it seemed that the light had given life to the planet of the koleeu, however in that case, why would it have returned? Why come to the same place twice? Or maybe it just move between those two worlds? But then, why had his bosses assumed that he would come to a place without any kind of life?
The man couldn’t stop his thoughts, until Msi’ approached him. She looked into his eyes and held out her hand, with the music just starting, Daniel knew exactly what the girl wanted, so he took it and together they began to dance.
