Bethany pauses to glance at Katherine with her stethoscope in her hand, “You’ve gone through healer training?” Katherine smiles a little, nodding at Bethany who grins back, “Great, I won’t have to be the only one keeping her in line anymore.” Bethany says with a wink as she turns back to Kaycee who is fuming at being talked over.
Kaycee growls sassily as she complains, “You know ‘Her’ is right here.”
“And we are all glad for it. Now breathe deeply,” Bethany retorts at Kaycee, listening to Kaycee’s lungs.
Katherine chuckles a moment before another thought crosses her mind. Looking between Kaycee and Bethany, she takes a deep breath before asking, “How bad is the Wolfsbane allergy?”
Bethany looks at Kaycee, who shrugs slightly, before the doctor answers, “It depends on what version she’s exposed to and how its administered.”
“Also how quickly someone gets atropine in me after shooting my ass with a tranq dart.” Kaycee puts in laughing.
Katherine looks at her twin in confusion, causing Kaycee’s mirth to falter a bit. “Tranq dart,” she asks, as Bethany moves to the supply drawers on the other side of the bed.
“Uh, yeah, tranquilizer darts Hunters use to subdue out of control Weres and Vampires,” Kaycee replies with a shrug. “I’ve been hit by like fifty something of them on accident during….OW! FUCK! What the hell was that for,” Kaycee suddenly yells.
Startled, Katherine glances over at Bethany to see that the doctor has stuck Kaycee’s finger with a small needle and took a drop of blood for a glucose blood test. She laughs at the look of betrayal on Kaycee’s face, causing her twin to stick out her tongue, which only makes Katherine laugh even more. Pouting, Kaycee crosses her arms.
“125 mg/dl. You need to eat and get that up higher. I think Mason said she'd get someone to bring some of the BBQ fares in for you. Once you eat that, you can get up. Oh and drink another supplement shake in about two hours as well, the orange-capped one,” Bethany dictates as she writes down her last few notes into Kaycee’s charts. “Got that?”
“Yeah, duh. I need to eat before getting up, and drink another supplement shake later on,” Kaycee grumbles out.
“Do not take that tone young lady. You knew what to do to keep yourself out of this room, and you failed to do it. Deal with the consequences,” Bethany scolds, as she moves to put the charts away.
Kaycee sticks her tongue out at Bethany’s back, getting caught as Bethany turns back around. Bethany just shakes her head at the immature gesture looking over to Katherine with an eye roll, causing Katherine to smile. A knock sounds at the door, drawing the trio’s attention. Looking over to find Nancy standing fearfully at the door Katherine stands up to go to her. Kaycee frowns at Nancy’s appearance sharing a glance with Bethany as they return to watching Katherine and Nancy.
“What's wrong Nancy,” Katherine asks soothingly as Nancy clings to her.
“Dad’s pissed off. I don’t know why. A Mage came in the waiting room, and he stiffened up. I’ve never seen him look like that before,” Nancy rushes out, holding tight to Katherine’s waist with a hug, burying her head into her cousin’s shoulder.
“Um, is her dad Uncle David?” Kaycee asks as she catches Nancy’s dogwood scent, instantly recognizing it as belonging to the young fox from the end of the game. Katherine confirms Kaycee’s observation with a nod. Kaycee shrugs, “I’m sure it’s just ‘cause he doesn’t necessarily…” Kaycee starts to say as a loud crash sounds from down the hall.
The twins lock eyes as Bethany rushes out the door to investigate what is going on. Kaycee quickly removes the blanket covering her and moves to leave the bed. Katherine gently moves Nancy to the chair before rushing over to stop Kaycee in alarm.
“Wait, Your doctor said not to get up till you eat something,” Katherine reminds her twin who sighs heavily.
Pointing to the fridge in the corner, Kaycee pushes herself off the bed despite Katherine trying to keep her in place. “Nancy, grab one of the bottles with a blue lid please,” Kaycee calmly states, not waiting for a response before carefully focusing on the tape helping to secure the IV tubing to her arm, her tone growing more forceful with each word as she continues, “An Alpha losing control in this wing is not going to be good, and I’m not going to sit around letting others get thrown around when I can help.”
Katherine sighs, before covering Kaycee’s hand with her own, as Nancy moves to grab the drink Kaycee asked for. “At least let me take the IV out properly then,” she says as another crash sounds from down the hall.
Locking gazes with Katherine, Kaycee nods. Nancy places the bottle into Kaycee’s other hand, and once the IV is removed Kaycee quickly opens and chugs it down. As another crash is heard, Kaycee races out of the room with Katherine and Nancy close on her heels. Reaching the end of the hall where Bethany and a few other medical staff are working to move people away from a waiting room, Kaycee is brought up short as Hector flies out of the door, crumpling as he hits the wall and lands on the floor unconscious.
Bethany moves to check on him as Kaycee moves past her to look into the room. Surveying the room, Kaycee could only see piles of broken furniture surrounding Devyn, who was standing protectively over an unconscious Megan, hands held up with a shielding spell. Heather, fully primal with fangs out and claws formed at the tips of her fingers, stood just before the shield as her blood red eyes focus on the two large wolves battling in the center of the room.
Katherine, after getting Nancy to stay and help Bethany, follows Kaycee to stop at her shoulder. Her uncles’ greying, charcoal-colored wolf easily dwarfs the auburn wolf that is James. Looking around the room, she cannot seem to find Valorie anywhere sending a spike of fear into her for the safety of her Aunt.
Her attention is drawn back into the fight as David’s wolf grabs the scruff of James’s pelt, throwing the smaller wolf towards the far wall. James’s impact is eased by Heather moving to block the full force of the throw. As David regroups to attack the shield, Kaycee shifts and tackles him to the ground.
Katherine watches in shock for a moment as she watches her sister’s wolf wrestle with her uncle‘s before shaking it off and going into healer mode and moving around the fight to check on Heather and James. “Is anything broken or dislocated,” Katherine asks, as her eyes check for any visible damage. Seeing only a few cuts on the wolf, she focuses on Heather who was struggling to breathe.
“Just got to… get my… wind back. That was… a harder throw... than I was expecting,” Heather tells Katherine, looking over the Omega’s shoulder at the fight.
The cracking-rip of a shift fills the room moments before David is heard yelling out in pain. Turning, Katherine sees David and Kaycee in human form, Kaycee holding the Alpha in a headlock as vines snake across the floor to bind the Alpha more fully. Realizing Kaycee had forced their uncle to shift back with her Omega power, Katherine decides to use her Omega power to try and calm the witnesses to the fight.
As calm fills the room and a little way into the hall Kaycee sweeps her gaze around the room to take stock of where everyone is. Feeling Katherine’s Omega power, Kaycee turns her attention to David who is still struggling in her hold. “Yield now.” She growls at him.
David ignores Kaycee, breaking free of the vines and trying to throw her off of him. Kaycee easily changes her grip to holding one of David's arms behind his back to the point he cries out in pain. Pissed off, Kaycee snarls at him, “Fine, we can stay the fuck like this all day then.” Looking up at Devyn, Kaycee’ face softens slightly as she asks, “What exactly did you guys do?”
“I don’t know. I just had found out you passed out and came to talk with the team straight from the lab.” Devyn tells her as she drops the shield, moving to check on Megan’s unconscious form.
Growling loudly, David tries to twist his body in such a way to release his arm from Kaycee’s grip. When she puts more pressure on it he growls, “Why are you protecting a Mage?”
Kaycee growls right back at David, sounding far more threatening than the restrained Alpha, “That Mage is my friend and is welcome to come and go from Blue Moon lands as she pleases. Never mind the fact that she is specifically here now to break down the blood samples so we can figure out what the base of the poison is.”
David tries once more to get free from Kaycee’s grip, which Kaycee answers by moving his arm almost to the point his shoulder would dislocate. David howls in pain before slumping in Kaycee’s hold to try and relieve the pain from his shoulder. Katherine, seeing this quickly stands and moves closer to Kaycee and David, directing all of her Omega Powers at the pair. Feeling the flow of Katherine’s power around her, Kaycee nods at Katherine before lessening the pressure on her hold. A gasp sounds at the door, drawing the attention of the room to Valorie who stands, taking in the damage, with an arm around Nancy’s waist. When Valorie’s eyes land on David and the twins, her eyes flash crimson, and her aura flashes brightly. Growling firmly as the wind moves debris from her path between the door and her mate, Valorie storms towards David.
“I was in the bathroom for five minutes, and you couldn’t behave yourself,” she yells at him, his whole demeanor falling into embarrassment at his mate’s confrontation.
Confused, Kaycee glances over at Katherine before looking back at the fuming Valorie. Unsure whether to release David or not despite the sudden lack of struggle Kaycee spoke to Valorie directly. “We are trying to figure out why this occurred in the first place,” Kaycee states, causing Valorie to briefly glance at her, before glaring at David.
Valorie, still angry, misses the differences between the twins as she retorts, “I realize that Katherine. Your uncle is acting the idiot, yet again and I’ve had enough.”
Kaycee frowns slightly, studying Valorie before tentatively questioning, “What?”
Valorie turns her full focus on Kaycee, finally realizing who she is speaking to. Surprise fills her features as her gaze travels over Kaycee’s form, taking in the pixie cut and firmer body. “Oh. Well ... Kaycee, your uncle can act like an idiot at times,” Valorie restates. As she realizes how Kaycee is holding David, Valorie grins as she teases the large man, “You got your ass handed to you.”
Katherine just shakes her head at Valorie’s comment as she moves to stand beside Kaycee. “I doubt Uncle David is going to do anything right now Kak...Kaycee,” Katherine tells her twin softly. Kaycee looks at her twin for a moment before releasing David.
