Chapter 2.
Noah's fingertips had just reached Lil's pelvis, when the door opened, and he snatched his hand back as though burned.
"Noah, look at this."
It was the other healthy Human Lil had noticed earlier. He was slender and tall with black hair and almond shaped eyes. Lil's body stirred again and he silently cursed his heat.
Noah looked at the tablet in the male's hand and his eyes widened. "Are those eggs?"
"It has clusters of them, filling its entire abdomen. It's not male!"
Noah's brows shot up and he looked at Lil's curled member. "Then how do you explain that?"
"How do you explain," the stranger jabbed his finger insistently at the screen, "this mountain of eggs?!"
Noah just shook his head and a female voice rang out from a speaker.
"Noah Bremen, to the fourth floor waiting room."
Noah blinked, startled. "I'm not expecting anyone."
"On Christmas Eve? It's probably Nanna." The man said, dark eyes still fixed on the screen. "I need to sample this. Which anaesthetic was it immune to?"
"All of them, Claus." Noah spoke over his shoulder, as he headed towards the door. "You can't operate."
"All?" Claus looked astonished and Noah shrugged, before closing the door.
His steps faded down the hall and Claus stepped closer to Lil, eyeing his body with detached fascination.
Lil understood enough of that exchange to know they wanted his eggs, and he pulled hard on the restraints, and hissed past the gag.
That gave the man pause, but he flashed a look at the screen beside Lil's head and looked reassured by whatever he saw there.
He walked to a dark glass cabinet and pulled out a couple of vials that he poured into a cylinder and attached to a hypodermic needle.
Lil snarled and puffed up his chest, desperately trying to appear larger and more intimidating, but Claus was unfazed and injected the solution into his arm. It burned harsher than the previous chemicals and Lil felt an abrupt surge of fatigue.
His eyes drifted shut, but moments later the chemicals moved to the surface of his skin and evaporated.
He wasn't tired anymore, but the Human clearly wanted him to be and he kept his eyes closed.
"Sasha?" Claus spoke. "I need a team up here. Operation. No, you'll have to see it to believe it."
A short while later more Humans arrived and it was terrifying to stay blind and vulnerable. But he had to, if he wanted to save his eggs.
They poked and slapped him. It hurt, but Lil forced himself to remain still.
Eventually, hands gripped his arms and legs and his straps were loosened. They lifted him easily and deposited him onto another hard surface.
"...like a rubber doll." A female snorted.
Lil didn't know what rubber or a doll was, but the derogatory tone let him know it wasn't a compliment.
Several of the others laughed and their hands loosened for an instant. Lil moved in a blur of speed, tubes tearing from his skin, as he launched off the table.
Shouts erupted and the Humans recoiled in fear, before they remembered Lil's physical weakness.
"Grab it!"
"Stop him!"
"Call security!"
Grey suited Humans lunged for him, but their heavy limbs were too slow, and Lil ripped the door open and raced down a hallway.
Steps pounded behind him and an alarm rang out. Lil ducked around a bend and looked around rapidly, heart thundering against his ribs.
There was a fragile metal square on the ceiling and he jumped, banging into it painfully, and climbed inside a duct. He replaced the square and stayed very still, while steps raced by underneath him.
The alarm was making his head pound and he crawled through the narrow and dusty space, following the direction of a light breeze.
There was a grill gushing icy air at the end of the tunnel and Lil unbuckled his gag with trembling fingers.
He could survive cold weather to an extent, probably even longer than a Human, but that didn't mean he would find his ship in time. Calling for help now would only alert the Humans and he didn't know what else to do.
He gripped the sides of the duct and kicked the grill as hard as he could. It took several attempts, and his feet ached, but he managed to loosen one side of it and squeezed his flexible body through the gap.
There was a blizzard outside and the moisture instantly froze on his skin. Lil was accustomed to a warmer climate and he repressed a whimper of fear and crouched by the edge of the duct.
It was far to the ground, but a tree branch slowed his fall, and Lil landed with soft knees and rolled through the snow.
He stood swiftly and took off into the night. The ice obscured his scent and he couldn't see far past the snowflakes. But he could hear the alarm still screeching inside and ran in the opposite direction.
Even in constant motion he was freezing and his breaths came in shallow gasps. A flash of light moved past him and he stumbled with fright and fell into the snow.
The cold seared his skin and everything hurt. The machine with the lights had stopped beside him and he knew he had to keep moving.
He struggled to get up, hands numb and stinging, and slipped right back down. The vehicle thankfully drove away, but an instant later running steps approached him.
"Oh my god!" A voice exclaimed and heavy fabric draped around him.
Lil shouted, voice raw and panicked, and looked up at a young male with dark hair and eyes.
"It's okay." The youngster soothed and bent to button up the fabric. "I got you. I got you."
The Human folded an arm around Lil's waist and led him across the icy path, onto a bench beneath a shelter.
"Jesus..." He pulled off his shoes and pushed them onto Lil's feet. They were a little loose, but the inside was cushioned and warm from the Human's body. He then unfurled a fuzzy length of fabric from his neck and wrapped it around Lil's instead. It warmed instantly.
Arms folded around him and Lil tensed, but the male's face was turned away in distraction and he looked at an electronic panel above their heads.
They were around the same age and it only took a single glance through Lil's exhausted eyes to assess that the youngster was healthy...If he didn't catch his death in the cold.
"I-it's okay. Just t-ten minutes and the b-bus will b-be here. It's m-much warmer inside." His hands rubbed in an attempt to create heat, but Lil was so cold he barely felt it.
The boy turned to face him and this close Lil noticed the brown circle, in his white eyes, had a green ring around it, with a black dot in the center. Dark hair fell over a high brow and curled around small pink ears.
As a Sanalon Lil was drawn to all kinds of races and, even in his frozen state, he could feel his heat responding.
"W-what h-h-happened t-to you?" The youngster's teeth were white and even and his full lips were turning a lovely shade of blue.
"B-b-aad p-peo-ples." Lil didn't even have the energy to worry about his broken pronunciation.
The male's eyes widened further and his arms tightened. But there was nothing threatening in his face. Nothing at all.
——————————
They shuffled onto one of the foul vehicles and the stench of pollution was enough to make Lil's eyes water.
The young male typed on a small screen by the door, scanned a card and led Lil to a hard seat covered in dirty blue fabric. But it was damp with water and Lil stretched his sore body onto it.
A heater was gushing out stale recycled air and he closed his eyes; absorbing as much of the moisture as he could.
He could hear the youngster speak. The words barely made sense, but Lil understood he was asking for help. That briefly made his gut cramp in fear, but the pilot was dismissive and his speech was just as broken as Lil's.
A moment later the youngster neared and Lil could smell the stress on the poor boy's skin. Gentle hands lifted his head and the Human's lap was just as damp as the musty seats.
"Do you think you can sit up?" Trembling fingertips brushed back his hair and Lil wanted to stay right where he was. He peered up blearily, saw the fear in the youngster's eyes, and forced himself to lift.
The male chatted after that, attempting to keep Lil alert. His voice rumbled pleasantly through his skin and he was so utterly unthreatening that Lil couldn't resist reaching below that scratchy clothing and touching his warm belly.
The youngster's skin was moist and soft with downy little hairs. Lil prayed fervently that they were sexually compatible, because the image of that firm skin swelling with eggs made his member stir.
The Human eventually pressed a button and the vehicle stopped. They stepped outside and the protective arm around Lil's waist almost made the cold bearable.
They were the same height but the youngster's heavy bones made him slow and Lil had to force himself to keep the pace.
They walked through an area full of dusty red buildings shining with little electric lights. They glittered on trees and outlined the houses and Lil might have found them pretty if he wasn't tense with fear.
The male aimed for one of the buildings and pulled on Lil.
"Come on!" He sounded eager, excited and Lil could smell and hear the Humans inside. Strangers who could be kind, like this boy, or cruel like the others. He resisted the pull and dug in his feet.
"No!" He fixed the male with a hard look and let him see he meant it.
The youngster's eyes widened and for a moment he looked truly afraid. Lil's heart ached and he felt tears rise in his eyes. He didn't mean to frighten the boy. He was only protecting them.
"P-pleese. N-no peo-ples." Lil said and the Human's face instantly softened.
"Shhh. Alright, sweetie. This way." He said in the gentlest voice. The word sweetie sounded like an endearment and Lil already loved the sound of it.
Cautious, but hopeful, he followed the boy around the back of the building. That area was quiet and some of his tension eased.
The youngster unlocked a door and led Lil up a wooden staircase lined with more of those glittering lights and green branches that were pungent with tree sap.
They stepped into a room humid with water and he nearly wept with relief. The youngster locked the door and sat Lil on a cold seat that smelled of harsh chemicals and the lightest undercurrent of Human waste. It was unpleasant. But bearable.
The boy switched on a faucet over a white tub and Lil could have kissed him.
"It's going to be okay. A hot bath will make you good as new." He pulled the boots off Lil's feet and winced. "I'm going to call an ambulance and get you a doctor."
Lil understood half of those words and no Human doctor was getting anywhere near his eggs. He didn't have the vocabulary to explain that though and he tilted the boy's rounded chin up.
"No...d-dactor." He said as firmly as possible.
The boy's expression softened again, as if Lil was a littling who didn't know what was good for him, and he took Lil's hand gently.
"Sweetheart, you need a doctor. Your skin is pink and purple."
Under different circumstances the endearment would have made Lil preen, but the context was all wrong; the Human thought Lil's colors looked sick and that he needed a healer. He hadn't meant to hurt Lil, but he had, and his intentions would do more harm than good.
Lil gripped the youngster's chin harder and flashed his fangs. "I sad no!"
The boy's beige skin became alarmingly pale and the black dots in his eyes expanded. "O-okay."
There was nothing dominant in this male and intimidating him was far too easy. Lil released him and leaned back on a wave of defeated exhaustion. His one candidate for a host found him unattractive and frightening. This wooing was a disaster.
The youngster hastily moved away and tinkered with the faucet and, even though he was wary now, he still returned to remove the fabric around Lil's neck and body.
Lil kept his eyes carefully down, not wanting to scare the Human more than he already had. He could feel those large eyes watching him. Did the male think all of him looked sick?
He braced himself for rejection and peaked up through his lashes. But the boy didn't look disgusted. He looked...intrigued.
Lil's member pulsed insistently and when the boy's hands slid around his waist, holding his soft sides with the gentlest care, he nearly purred with approval. That touch was perfect for handling fragile littlings.
