“Maybe we should talk to your mom about this, she would probably have something to say,” Luka says keeping his arms wrapped around Kai.

“Well they should be home any sec-” Kai says as the girls run through the back door, “Looks like their home,” He says laughing, Luka smiles as he plays with Kai’s hair.

“We could go talk to her now if you want,” Kai says leaning on Luka, Luka nods.

“I don’t mind, I think it will be a very interesting conversation,” Luka says as Kai stands up, Luka follows him as they walk out of the bedroom. They slowly make it to the kitchen where mom is.

“Where are the girls?” Kai asks as he takes a seat at the island.

“Upstairs, I told them they could bother you two until they got their homework done, They are super obsessed with Luka,” Mom says laughing as she washes the dishes.

“I think we could kinda tell,” Kai says looking at Luka and smiling.

“It’s just them being excited, once you stay here long enough they’ll think of you as one of us and won’t bug you as much. At least I think so, we haven’t had a guest stay this long,” Mom says looking over at the boys.

“Speaking of staying here, we have something we wanted to talk to you about,” Kai says as mom goes back to cleaning dishes.

“Is that why you came out here, you only ever talk to me if you need something,” Mom says jokingly as she stops with the dishes.

“Haha so funny,” Kai says jokingly.

“I thought I was funny, anyways what's up?” Mom asks leaning up against the counter.

“Well, Luka and I were talking today and were thinking maybe we could move into an apartment together,” Kai says nervously as Luka grabs his hand under the counter.

“For over the summer?” Mom asks crossing her arms.

“Y-yeah, I mean it was just a thought and-” Kai says.

“We were thinking you would give us some good advice, I know it’s a little soon but we think it’s a good fit for us. We both wanna live close to both of our houses so we can visit every day, unless you don’t want us to. I know it’s sudden but we were just thinking,” Luka says as Kai gets more nervous.

“I fully understand, I wouldn’t mind I mean it’s your life, you don’t have to listen to me. All I have to say is get a big enough apartment so you can each have your own space, if you have a very small apartment you’ll be in each other space a lot and get sick of one another. Trust me I’ve been through it before, it never turns out well,” Mom says laughing a little.

“So you’re ok with us moving in together?” Kai asks with a smile.

“Of course, and even if I wasn’t I wouldn’t want me to stop you,” Mom says moving closer to them, Luka smiles and looks at Kai.

“When do you think we should start planning on doing this?” Kai asks happily.

“You can start planning whenever, you would just need to think somethings through really well. It will take a little while to actually move, so you’re gonna have to be ready for that,” Mom says as Mako walks into the room.

“What are you guys talking about?” Mako asks standing next to mom.

“Nothing exciting,” Kai says not wanting Mako to know.

“Kai and Luka wanna move in together,” Mom says resting her hand on Mako’s shoulder.

“Mom, I didn’t want to tell him yet,” Kai says.

“Why not, he deserves to know. It’s not like he’s gonna be upset about it,” Mom says hugging Mako, Mako stares off annoyed.

“Yeah, it’s not like I’m upset about it, it’s your life why does it matter to me. Why don’t you just go move to another state, I wouldn’t care. I’m glad you’re leaving good for you, go live your life without us,” Mako says starting to get even more upset, he pushes Mom’s arm off of him as he storms out of the kitchen.

“Good job mom,” Kai says upset, Luka wraps his arm around him.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t know he would get that upset. I mean I know you and him are super close but I didn’t think he would react like this,” Mom says annoyed at herself.

“I’m sure he’ll be fine, we should just give him his space. We should probably not bring it up around him again until he’s ready,” Luka says rubbing Kai’s shoulder to comfort him.

“You’re right, I’m sorry again for bring it up around him. I should’ve let you do it when you were ready,” Mom says apologetically.

“It’s ok, I understand. I shouldn’t keep things from him just because of this, it’s just hard for me to be real with him sometimes,” Kai says calming down, Luka nods.

“It’s alright, how about we go discuss this in your room. We can start looking for apartments,” Luka says getting up.

“You two have fun, come back out if you have any questions. I’d be happy to help,” Mom says as Kai gets up, the two start walking back to Kai’s bedroom as the girls walk down the stairs.

“Luka!” They yell running towards them.

“Not now girls, Kai and I were gonna go talk alone. I promise I’ll hang out with you guys later,” Luka says as Kai goes into the bedroom, the girls frown but nod slowly. Luka smiles and shuts the door, he walks over to the bed and sits down next to Kai.
