Mr. Carvas clicked his tongue in annoyed way. Easrim then heard running and the door flung open.

Bang

“MOOOM, DAAAAD!! Why is Ruby getting special treatment? I wanna go TOOO!” said a screaming little girl that look around eleven.

“Hello my wittle dupwing what can Daddy do for you” Said Mr. Carvas in a childish voice

“I want to go to that school TOOO!!!” the little girl wailed

“Mr. Pax bring our daughter too.” Mr. Carvas commanded

“Our school day is from four in the morning to twelve at night, we provide one hour to write a twelve page essay per class every night, we give you fifteen minutes to eat breakfast and the same for dinner, you don’t need lunch, as that gets in the way of studying, and we give you one minute to get ready in the morning and for bed.” Easrim said in a happy tone as if pleased some one else wanted to join the World Boarding School.

The little girl stared at Easrim open mouthed and a hilarious expression on her face. It took all Easrim had not to crack a smile.

“Umm... I don’t think this school is for me” the girl said unsure of herself

“My wittle bundle of joy is too smart to go to such a school” Mr. Carvas continued to speak in a childish voice.

“Yeah that's why I don’t want to go” Said the little girl in a tone that clearly said otherwise.

Knock Knock

“Ruby is here” came the butlers voice through the door.

“Send her in.” Mr. Carvas said in tone that clearly said he didn’t want to deal with something.

The door opens and the butler walked in carrying a old briefcase which Easrim assumed was the bags and she was followed by a girl with tight close a size too small for her and face with no light in it like she only saw a dead world. Seeing the girls face broke Easrims heart.

“Your aunt has decided to send you to World Boarding School so you better thank your aunt.” said Mr. Carvas in a threatening tone that surprised Easrim.

“Thank you Aunt Peggy.” said the girl in a dead voice.

“WATCH YOUR TONE YOU UNGRATEFUL-“ the girl flinched as Mr. Carvas shouted at her. Easrim was waiting for the undeniable proof before he did anything yet it didn’t come as Mrs. Carvas interrupted with a-

“GEORGE!!” and she darted her eyes between Mr. Carvas and Easrim. Then the eleven year old said.

“Isn’t daddy going to show Ruby how much he loves MMPH” Mrs. Carvas had covered the girls mouth and whispered in her ear

“Not now Jenney.”

Ruby didn’t try to hide her surprise that something didn’t happen. Although Easrim was relieved that something didn’t happen he wasn’t even able do anything with the lack of evidence

“Right, sorry dear.” Mr. Carvas apologised to his wife then he proceeded to say,

“You will be leaving immediately and as we aren’t paying a penny you will be using old and used materials.”

“Yes Uncle George.” Ruby said in a dead tone.

“If you aren’t going to be paying then we will be keeping all the materials at the school so we will come pick her up a two weeks in advance every year so that she can get her summer homework done.” Easrim said

To which Mr. Carvas responded “That will be perfect we will have less time to waste on that little-”

“George!”

“Angel.” Mr. Carvas finished

“Is there anything else that I need to know?” Easrim asked

“Funny things happen around her sometimes we have to … correct her when that happens which usually cause more funny things to happen and then we have to correct her again this continues until the funny thing stops.” Mr. Carvas said

“So she is a esper. Ok we will get a specialist to help her control that so that she can enter society normally.” Easrim said.

“Excellent! Now we don’t have to deal with her anymore” Mr Carvas said happily. Easrim waited for a second for something to happen.

“What are you still doing here? I want that girl out of my sight… NOW” Mr. Carvas shouted at Easrim.

“Ok, you will see Ruby again next summer” Easrim said as he got up from the sofa. The butler walked over to the door pushing Ruby in front of her and Easrim followed. Easrim was very happy that he pulled this off, but the happiness fades as see the statue again. He really wanted to fix it, but he barely managed to get succeed he can’t jeopardize Ruby’s chances to go to Buffleetoes. Sighing on the inside Easrim followed the butler and Ruby to the car. As soon as they got to the car the butler stopped and bent her knees to get to Ruby’s eye level, gave her a hug and whispered in Ruby’s ear

“Your going to be at a better place now and you won’t have do see the Carvas’ for almost a year.” Ruby nods yet there is no light shining in those empty eyes. The butler sighes, gets up and walks to Easrim.

“I want your word that you will treat Ruby as your own daughter.” The butler said in a low voice.

“Um… sure?” said Easrim taken aback the butler sighs again and said.

“Fine, but at least treat her better than the Carvas’.”

“I don’t know what you are talking about.” Said Easrim

The butler snorts and jams the suitcase into Easrims chest.

“I have spent too much time here and I need to go back to the Carvas’, but I warn you if you don’t treat her right, you will regret it.” The butler said in a deadly tone.

“Okay.” Easrim said in a indifferent tone

The butler glared at Easrim as she walked back inside. Easrim opened the door for Ruby and followed after her.

“Set destination Lift Airport” Easrim said as he sat on the couch

[“Setting destination to Lift Airport, Kentucky”] said the robotic voice of the 2019 Holpur.

[turning around]

[on private driveway starting speed is at five miles per hour]

[entering private road increasing speed to fifteen miles per hour]

[now leaving Gorbon Drive]

“Change destination to five Vita Nova

ave.” said Easrim. Ruby looked startled and said

“That is the next street over!”

[you are changing destination from Lift Airport to Five Vita Nova ave. is this correct?]

“Yes.” said Easrim

Ruby looked confused

[changing destination to Five Vita Nova ave.]

[turning left]

[now entering Vita Nova ave.]

[we have arrived]

[parking]

“Why is there a mirror in the middle of the road? Is it trash or free?” Ruby asked

Easrim opened the door.

“Why are you getting out?” Ruby asked

“We have reached our destination. Come on.” Easrim said as he got out.

Ruby confused stayed in the car until Easim gesture for her to leave the car. Ruby cautiously left the car well away from Easrim’s arm range and looked with one eye on Easrim and one eye on the mirror that showed no reflection and within running distance to the car. Easrim was saddened by the lack of trust, but he new it can’t be helped as he was suspicious. So he went to the mirror and said

“Professor Luna Natille”

The Mirror rippled and showed Professor Natille at her desk in the headmistresses office. Ruby startled by this decided that this was a high tech mirror that was made to wow new students.

“Professor Natille I apologise for the interruption, but I have Ms Ruby Sunshine” Easrim called to Professor Natille.

Startled Professor Natille looked up to see a mirror in the middle of her office.

“How in the name of the Fortola did you get passed all 3,137 Enchantments in my office alone let alone the school enchantments!”

“Professor Natille this mirror is a special artifact given to me by a group of people that I trust.”

“What group?”

“I am not allowed to say.”

“Shady, but fine what how long have you known this group?”

“About a week.”

“How can they earn your trust in a week!?”

“They gave me this mirror, strength, speed, and a book with rules and how to be like them and none of the rules so far have any conflict in my beliefs or call for me to harm others other than to stop a war and even then that is a last resort.”

“Stop a - Stop a war? How big is this organization, why have I not heard of something like that, how new is it, and how good are they at their jobs?”

Easrim knowing that he said too much looked away and started to whistle.

Ruby revised the way what the mirror was for maybe it was there for comedy that liked magic, but she said to herself that magic was evil (she lied to herself out of habit in case her uncle was near as a test) and besides why would she a nobody like her be picked up by witches and wizards

Easrim realizing they got off track said “That's right the reason I opened the mirror to you is so that you can get rid of the car and to explain the next step.” The headmistress sighed then said

“Fine, but when this was all over we are going to have a little chat about a few things and depending on your answers you might have to leave the school permanently.”

Easrim gulped

“That is fine Headmistress. All you have to do is walk through the mirror’s face” Easrim said to Professor Natille and to Ruby as well.

Ruby now had no idea what to think know as she doubted that what the woman said was a joke, but she was startled when the woman actually walked cautiously through the mirror. Ruby ran to the mirror’s back side and saw the most beautiful bird that Ruby felt compete just by staring at it, the most terrifying beast that felt like it would eat her up just by looking at it and in between them was the most complex tree Ruby felt she would ever see. And all three of them appear to be moving the beast looked like it was trying to fight back pain, the tree leaves were blowing into complex symbols and the bird looked like it was singing. Ruby knew she shouldn’t touch the mirror, but the bird was just so beautiful she just had to know what the bird was singing. As Ruby touches the bird she hears the most calming singing it keeps changing from woman to human and back each change the voice becomes calmer and more comforting. Ruby felt both a comforting breeze and felt that everything was alright out of the corner of her eye Ruby saw that the woman pulled out a stick and with a wave of her hand the Holpur vanished normally this would have frightened Ruby, but the sing said it was ok and to listen to these people and they will lead her to a better place. Ruby chose to believe the bird.

Meanwhile just a few feet away Easrim told Professor Natille that do to certain circumstances Ruby was not able to going to be able to shop with her family and that spereration was the best course of action.

Professor Natille said “Well we can only hold her for until summer comes again when she will have to go back there is nothing we can do without memory magic which is forbidden to be used on anyone without a permit which is extremely hard to get emphasis on extremely.”

“Can we hold certain memories if she comes so that she doesn’t let slip do to?” Easrim scrunched up his face while he said “persuasive attempts from his Uncle.”

Professor Natille froze and then said “If it is that bad we can call some-”

Easrim interrupted her “they already have multiple people in their pocket in that area and besides how will they explain why they are there they would suspect me as the main culprit plus how could they find evidence as I am sure it is wiped anyone working there are able disappear easily I have done my research.”

Easrim then continued “And I completely doubt the ministry will move for one little girl especially not at a time like this”

Professor Natille gave a sigh and said “Going back to your last question the answer is yes and it is much less difficult and like you seem to suggest that would be the only option though If there was a better solution I would take it in a heartbeat.”

Easrim also sighed then straighten up and walked to Ruby who was still touching the Fortola and said “Ms. Ruby Sunshine we would like you to attend Buffleetoe’s school of Magical Exploration. Step through the mirror if you want to start a new life.”

The light returned to Ruby’s eyes as she starts to tear up and said in a choked voice “Thank you and I accept.”
