"I can't believe this is happening to me," I said when Asher came back into the room.
He handed me a coke, but I didn't open it. I watched as the Alpha narrowed his gaze at the drink in my hand. He sat down in the chair beside the bed and let out an exacerbated sigh.
"I had all these things I wanted to do before the summer ended. Might as well say goodbye too the rest of my life too. No one's going to want to hire me because they'll assume I'll only work until I'm knocked up," I turned to face the Alpha, "Don't start getting any ideas."
Asher just looked over from his chair with a monotone expression. I was about to scrutinize him when a new, horrible thought popped into my brain. "Crap! What are my parents going to say when they find out?"
I groaned and leaned my head back against the bed. This sucks so bad.
"Are you done?" Asher asked after I just continued to stare up at the ceiling and contemplate all the things I was going to lose.
I glared at him without turning my head.
"Maybe we can come to some sort of agreement." He suggested.
"And what would that be?"
"Well, you have exciting summer plans, you don't want to ruin because of me, and I have a lot of work that needs to get done in the next couple weeks."
I sat up from the bed to look at him properly, "Are you saying we pretend none of this happened?"
"More like, putting a pin in it," Asher corrected.
"Too busy for even your mate," I scrunched up my nose. "Somehow, I'm not surprised, but if it means I get my life back for a little longer, then I can agree to it."
"Good, I'll give you my-" Asher said before his head suddenly snapped to the door. I watched in curiosity as his lips curled upwards in disgust.
The hospital door slammed open and a wide-eyed and heaving Theo ran through it. Gauze wrapped around his chest and an IV tube was still attached to his arm. His eyes locked with my as he shouted my name.
"Jonah!" Theo ran to greet me, but was immediately blocked by the Alpha in the room.
"Where do you think you're going?" Asher said obstructing my view.
"To my best friend! What are you even-"
I didn't have to see Theo face to know he figured out what the Alpha was doing in my room.
"You bastard!" Theo growled before he threw his fist at Asher's jaw.
"Big mistake," Asher said grabbing Theo's wrist and thrashed the other wolf against the wall.
"Let him go!" I shouted, but the Alpha ignored me.
He threw a punch at Theo's chest and I heard the Beta wheeze for air.
"I said, let go!" I threw my soda at the Alpha.
Asher quickly dropped Theo and grabbed his own head. "What the hell!?"
"You're psychotic!" I shouted at him when he turned to face me.
"And you're neurotic!" He barked back.
"What is going on in here?!" Doctor Wood ran into the room before anymore damage could be done. He pushed Asher to the side and picked up Theo from the ground. Theo continued to wheeze and a knot formed in my chest.
"It's his fault!" Theo and Asher said in unison.
"Both of you need to grow up. This is a hospital not a fight club." Doctor Wood remarked trying to get a better grip on Theo.
"Theo," I said trying hard to make sure my voice didn't crack. The Beta stood up and pulled away from Doctor Wood. Blood dripped down from his nose and he wobbled as he walked toward me.
Asher growled as Theo walked passed him, but he didn't stop the Beta. Theo placed both hands on the rail of my bed. He said with a bloody smile, "Hey, you okay?"
"Ironically, better than you, it seems." I winced.
"Good," Theo wheezed. "Doc, you can take me back to my bed now."
Doctor Wood ran over and placed Theo's arm around his shoulders. Theo flipped off Asher he stumbled passed him and out of the room.
