Alan's pov
I walked to school on a Saturday. Something I thought I would never do. Of course, I let mom know where and why I was going before leaving. Didn't want her to be worried when she noticed I was gone. Once I got to the steps I tried opening the door but as I should have known it was locked. I grumbled pulling out my phone shooting a text to Stacie letting her know I was here.
A few minutes later the door opened and instead of seeing Stacie as I hoped I saw another girl? She had like a bob cut and bangs that practically covered her face. It gave me the chills so I thanked her quickly before swiftly going in. The girl followed me eventually getting ahead of me to probably lead the way.
Eventually, we were in the gym and I saw three girls sitting on the ground and two guys sitting on the ground also. Honestly, the two guys looked suspicious. Stacie besides the girl and I was the only one standing up. She was holding a clipboard and glanced over then a smile spread across her face as her eyes lit up.
"Hey Alan." she ran over pulling me along to the group who stared at me.
The girl with the bob cut sat down a bit farther away from the group. Stacie went in front of the people and I stood by her side. I looked at their faces as their eyes bored into me. I decided to look everywhere but them.
"We have a new member to help us with the Halloween Dance," Stacie announced and the three girls clapped while the girl with the bob just stared and the boys rolled their eyes. "You can go sit down now," she whispered to me and I nodded taking a seat that ended up next to the girls making two of them giggle.
"Here for the girls too?" one of the guys with long tousled hair asked nudging me.
"U-Uh um you could say that," I mumbled glancing at Stacie as she began to talk about how she made a layout on how the gym should look for the dance.
"Well I'll be nice and warn you about that one guy." the other guy with a buzzcut said and I quirked an eyebrow.
"One guy?" I asked and both of them glanced over somewhere. I looked in the direction they were looking at to see the girl with the bob cut. "That's a guy-" I guess I said it a bit too loud because they both covered my mouth.
"Yes, that's a guy." the one with tousled hair whispered rolling his eyes. "He fooled us too," he said shooting the guy a glare but he didn't notice or either ignored it.
"He's disgusting just look at his haircut and the shorts he's wearing that shows off his ass." the one with a buzzcut sneered.
"Dude you were looking at his ass?" the tousled one punched his arm.
"Ow I didn't try to." the other grumbled and I turned away from them slowly as they bickered.
I couldn't believe that girl well was a guy. Guess he could fool anyone with how feminine he looks. I decided to shake those thoughts away and focus on Stacie. She's the reason why I was here after all.
"So I want some people to help me make the list of all the things we need and I do have somethings listed on there already. And then I need some people to work on flyers to pass out and hang around the school. Also, you all can help me make adjustments to the layout or how the dance should look if you want. Remember we all should have fun!" Stacie spoke with passion making me smile as she finished.
One of the girls helped Stacie with the list while the other two girls and two guys worked on the layout for the flyers. So I was stuck standing and staring at the layout of the gym with a notebook in hand while the bob cut girl- guy! The bob cut guy sat next to me. Ha, bob guy makes me think of Bob who I text. I shook my head and tried focusing on the layout.
"I think this dance is going to suck."
My eyes flickered to the guy sitting done next to me. His hair hung lower covering more of his face giving me the shivers. I wanted to glare at what he said about Stacie's plans so far but I decided against it.
"Oh, why do you say that?" I asked looking back at the layout.
"There's not much on this layout. If anything I think we should have low lights, not bright ones. We should have spider webs, realistic skeletons, punch bowls that have the punch that looks like blood and slime sake with jello cubes that should have edible eyeballs in them. The dance should be creepy not a Halloween dance for middle schoolers." the guy spoke swiftly and I blinked at him before looking back at the layout.
I guess he had a point. There wasn't much on the layout that was actually creepy and cool. Not to mentioned it seemed like the activities Stacie planned were a bit childish. But I believe anything we did would probably still be less creepy but his ideas might work.
"Did you write that all down?" I asked and instead of saying words he just showed me his notebook which had a lot more down than what he told me. "Well knock yourself out and show her," I said motioning my pen in the direction Stacie was.
He sighed and closed his notebook before getting up. I blinked watching him as he walked past me over to Stacie. He was a bit strange but he had amazing ideas so I think Stacie would be very happy to hear them. I glanced at the layout and based on the ideas he gave I tried drawing them in my notebook on the layout of the gym. As I was making adjustments to the layout in my notebook Stacie called us all over pulling us away from what we were doing. The bob cut guy stood next to her fidgeting.
"Sawyer here has given me amazing ideas for the dance so let's scrap that layout I did for the gym and make a complete makeover. Same with the list!" Stacie announced with a bright smile with her hands on who I know now as Sawyer and not bob cut dude.
I clapped with the girls as the two boys just groaned rolling their eyes. Shaking my head at them Stacie sent us back to work. I got up going back to the layout then glanced at my drawing of the layout. Sawyer walked over after chatting a bit more to Stacie and I noticed his blank or bored usual facial features faded and there was a slight movement in his cheeks and corners of his lips.
"Thank you," he said softly as he sat back down in front of the layout on his knees.
"No problem." I shot him a grin. "So um I drew some of the things you mentioned in my notebook," I said showing him and he glanced over them quickly then looked out at the layout in front of us.
"Looks good let's just add the rest and more detail," he said with an affirmative tone and I nodded getting down next to him then we started to edit the layout.
"Any more great ideas you have?" I asked as I drew.
"Yeah, I showed and told her them all. I hope she likes them..." he mumbled and I glanced at him quickly.
"You like her?" I asked keeping my eyes on him instead of drawing.
"Yes and no." he shot me a glare. "I like her platonically nothing more I'm not like you and those guys." he spat and honestly I was a bit hurt.
"I'm not like them." I huffed looking back down at the layout finishing my edits.
"You're not here to perv on the girls?" he asked finishing his edits as well.
"I'm here for Stacie." left my lips before I could stop it and he looked at me before he snorted, rude.
"Good luck with that," he replied getting up. "Looks like we're done here," he said before walking off in the direction of Stacie and I got up to follow after grabbing the layout.
"Good job you guys." Stacie smiled. "Yaz and I will finish up the list now. You two can go check over the layout for the flyer and maybe help. I'm so glad we're progressing so quickly." she pretty much squealed and I'm sure if I was in a cartoon my eyes would have hearts in them which Sawyer gagged at the way I looking was at Stacie.
We made our way to where the two girls and guys were. I glanced at the flyer to just see a bat and some wording. It didn't look like much and the drawing wasn't that good. But the words looked neat. I figured the girls must have written that.
"Good writing girls," I said smiling at them and their giggling stopped.
"I um..." I glanced in the direction of the voice to see the buzzcut guy who had his hand up a little while looking down. "We wrote that." his face was slightly pink as he said this.
"Dude!" the tousled one said punching his arm earning an ow from the other guy.
"Oh," I said glancing at the girls who looked glum at the drawing of the bat they must have drawn.
Sawyer rolled his eyes and got down on his legs sitting on them. He glanced over the drawing and words. He seemed to be in thought so while he did so I tried to comfort the girls.
"We need to add more to this," Sawyer said finally and opened his notebook sketching something out while we all moved in to look.
He sketched out a creepy but very realistic pumpkin in the middle. Then he wrote Halloween Party on the upper top in this weird but cool looking font with one bat on each side of it. He drew cute ghosts then creepy ones all over the place but they looked really good.
"Now it just needs some slogans to get people to want to go and to be colored nicely," Sawyer said looking up and jumped back a bit I guess noticing we were surrounding him.
"That looks great!" A girl smiled at him and his face went slightly pink.
"Yeah, it does! We can help you color it." the other girl said.
"O-Oh okay thanks," Sawyer replied.
"Show off." the tousled hair guy scoffed.
"And we will help with slogans!" the buzzcut guy said punching his friend in the arm for once which earned him an ow from his friend.
"I'll help with the slogans too," I said and the two guys nodded at me then we all went to work before a loud alarm went off that came from Stacie's phone.
"Alright, everyone! Thanks for coming today it really means a lot. I believe we got a lot done today so I will try to organize things up so we can try to have this all done before it's time for the dance!" Stacie announced as we finished the flyer.
We all handed the things over to Stacie. She told the two girls that were working with us that next time she wants them to make copies of the flyer. The two guys and one girl would help her with making a list of the things needed. And she wanted Sawyer and me to work on a playlist of songs for the dance. Sawyer and I decided to exchange phone numbers to finish it beforehand so then next time we could just add more or take some off.
