Mason’s mixture of scents enters the room just before she walks in, anger filling her tall frame. Seeing that no one was currently fighting or being held down, she crosses her arms across her chest and leans on the door frame to watch as David moves his arm to loosen it after the painful hold Kaycee had put him in.
“We generally take any hard karynreythiel out into the Training fields rather than tearing apart waiting ceromiel,” Mason states in monotone, glaring at David since he was at the center of the debris.
Before David can respond, Bethany pushes past Mason and into the room to see if anyone else is in need of immediate medical attention. The sight of Kaycee standing in the room gives her pause. “Blue Drink,” she asks Kaycee, who nods in affirmation. Nodding back she moves to Megan who is just beginning to stir.
As Bethany begins to check over Megan for a concussion, Hector stiffly returns into the room and leans on the wall near the door. Kaycee walks towards him, grabbing a chair that survived the battle. Placing it down in front of Hector she points to it and turns to look back at the rest of the room as he rolls his eyes and sits. Mason returns to leaning in the doorway and staring at David, clearly waiting for him to respond in some way.
With Kaycee further from her uncle, Devyn moves to stand closer to James’s wolf, resting her hand on James’s pelt in comfort. “I would very much like to know why I was just attacked,” Devyn demands.
David ignores her, focusing on Mason and straightening his posture to tower over the rest of the room. “Mage magic is evil, and you allow one to walk freely among your pack, in your medic...” David tries to assert, stopping when Kaycee growls threateningly at him.
Mason glances at Kaycee when her aura flashes briefly with her emotions before standing and moving closer to David, staring unapologetically into his eyes as she counters, “Just because some are fanryno does not mean all can be considered to be. Otherwise, lyca’el should be colored by your logic for the few who demurne without the excuse of Rogue Syndrome.”
David stiffens and refuses to look away from Mason. The Alpha’s stare at each other for several more minutes, the rest of the room watching them tensely. When it becomes obvious that David would not lower his eyes, Valorie growls and slaps David’s arm, drawing his attention away from Mason.
“Will you stop,” Valorie exclaims pointing her fingers accusingly at David’s face, causing him to flinch away. “This is not Fox River so who comes and goes is not under your control. Plus you are accusing the poor girl of it being a crime that she has Mage blood. Guess what, she also has Wiccan blood so drop that thought process now. And clearly, the girl is important to your niece. Kaycee was ready to rip your arm off to protect the girl.”
Katherine chuckles softly, trying to muffle it under her hand and failing, David’s attention is drawn to her. She shrugs as she teases, “Aunt Valorie is right Uncle David. You reacted without thinking.”
Kaycee lets out a loud snort of amusement at Valorie’s scolding and Katherine’s teasing. When the attention of the room focuses on her, Kaycee makes her face blank of emotion and rocks toe to heel several times. Megan, sitting up now and leaning on the wall nearest to her starts laughing at Kaycee’s reaction. Hector joins in with Megan’s laughter, earning a swat from Kaycee. Heather joins in as James sits in his wolf form with his tongue hanging out in canine-like amusement. Kaycee huffs, crossing her arms and stopping the rocking.
Bethany shakes her head as she stands, having decided Megan is okay before moving over to Kaycee. “You still need to eat. And drink the pink capped supplement in a few hours,” Bethany orders playfully, smiling as Kaycee rolls her eyes response.
Nodding at Mason, Bethany heads out of the room, almost getting run over by Lucy as she tries to enter with a large basket of food. Scolding her to slow down, earning a sheepish smile from the young girl, Bethany continues down the hall. Lucy looks around the room, spots Kaycee and bounces over to the Omega’s side. Katherine blinks in surprise as she realizes the younger girl’s aura was showing the Fae focused grey as well the crimson that mark hybrid Were, uncertain as to how she missed it when first meeting the energetic girl.
“Tristen style BBQ delivery for the zantyrn Ometha. I brought enough for enrowyerika to have some too. Mentre said she’s keeping the grill going all hyer so people can eat when they can so y’all can grab merka from the buffet later on,” Lucy shares as she hands the basket to Kaycee and begins to pull out plates.
Kaycee stiffly laughs, teasing Lucy as she replies, “and where exactly are we eating this bounty?”
Lucy just grins, “I figured you or Kitty-Kat could just call in some vine seats and tables for now, or maybe Devy can.” James’s wolf sneezes in amusement as Katherine shoots him a look of annoyance at hearing the nickname he coined.
Devyn groans at Lucy’s nickname for her, “I’ve told you before Lucille, I do not want to be called anything but Devyn.”
Lucy sticks her tongue out at Devyn as she teases, “And ju xy the only one who insists on calling me Lucille besides A’mentre.”
James snorts before the cracking-rip sounds as he shifts. A grin fills his face as he joins in the teasing, “Mages take full names very seriously Luce. Without them, they feel no power.”
Devyn glares at James crossing her arms, testily retorting, “Names are given for a reason. They are as important as…”
“As croytran as fate, yatta, yatta. I smell vyrarel,” interrupts a mellow voice from the hallway.
Again the room’s attention turns focus to the door, they see a six foot six inch tall, willowy young woman, a few years older than the twins, whose darkly tanned skin seems to make her vibrant, green eyes pop even more. Her brown hair is dyed with several strips of bright green that compliment her eyes, standing out brightly with her crimson-green aura. She is dressed in distressed jeans and a punk rock t-shirt that looks faded from washing, her scent of freshly cut grass mixed with driftwood flowing out around her. Despite the physical differences, she has the same facial structure as Lucy. Her eyes sweep the room and land on Katherine, a huge grin filling her face.
“Hey, Kitty-Kat. Gnoricyr ju were zombified,” The woman teases earning a groan from Katherine and laughter from Lucy and James.
Kaycee rolls her eyes, shooting an apologetic look at Katherine. Seeing the looks of confusion on the faces of her friends, Kaycee sighs, running her hands through her hair before speaking, “Jill can you set up seats so everyone can eat please instead of being an ass.”
Jill glances about the room, giving a slight shrug before making several quick gestures. Out of the floors pop what looks like stumps at varying heights to simulate tables and chairs. She frowns as she realizes Megan is sitting, leaning against one of the walls. She quickly moves over to crouch by Megan, eyes flashing crimson as she growls softly upon spotting bruises forming on Megan’s arms.
Megan sighs and reaches out to hold Jill’s hand, casting a quick empathy spell to calm the agitated Hybrid. “Nympa-nynare, I’m fine. Just a bit banged up,” she soothes.
“Megan Romoni, ayin allowed to be pintu about you being hurt, stop using that stupid karthra spell to alter my feelings,” Jill orders softly.
“There have been enough negative feelings today, we don’t need you to add to them,” Megan replies, smiling when Jill just sighs and places their foreheads together.
Katherine is confused by the exchange, having never really seen Jill be serious or overly caring before. She shakes it off and moves to sit on one of the newly formed stumps. Most of the others in the room join her, Kaycee sitting right beside her. Lucy begins to set out plates of barbecued ribs, steaks, various vegetables as well as some pasta salad and garden greens she has in the basket.
As the others in the room move to take their seats, Mason walks over to Kaycee and leans down to kiss the top of the Omega’s head, pleading speaking to the Omega in her native Fae tongue, “A’testhazeve, Aou ortkyno urkyr qui merka durksau nekypomedyiel.”
Kaycee’s cheeks turn red as she nods. “Miaploni, A’rayloni. Aou vyn partylo kyno syt ort qui merka nekypomedyiel,” she replies in the Fae tongue.
Mason smiles and squeezes Kaycee’s hand before bowing her head to the rest of the room as Lucy places a full plate of food in front of Kaycee. “Enjoy your jerel, meal, I have to go greet some of my other quyna’el,” She says before giving Kaycee one last glance and walking out of the room.
Nancy moves to sit by Kaycee leaning in to ask, “What did the two of you say, I could figure out the strange words the other three said but that was all strange words?”
Kaycee grins and shrugs teasingly between bites, “Just some Oralyn phrases, nothing to think too hard on.”
Megan rolls her eyes and mutters under her breath, “Testhazevyth hythrod.”
Hearing Megan’s comment, Jill laughs and sits beside Nancy and hitting the young Were playfully with her elbow. “Mason asked Kaycee to stop making her come here for medical emergencies. Kaycee apologized and said she would try not to and Megs just called Kaycee a troublemaking Hybrid.”
Nancy takes the information in while looking around the room. “Are you all friends with Kaycee?”
Kaycee confirms while looking at her uncle directly as she explains, “They are my best friends. Without them, I probably would be… I guess unstable would be the best word.”
“More unstable,” James teases ducking as Kaycee throws a roll at his head.
“Hey, no food throwing. You are supposed to be eating it,” Heather scolds, pointing her finger at Kaycee before smacking her mate up side his head. “And do not encourage her James or you are sleeping alone for the next month.”
Katherine looks between James and Heather in surprise. “Um, what?”
“Yeah, so I am James’s mate, Heather. Heather Guarst. I’m one of three Blue Moon Vampires since my mom renounced her ties to her old conclave because they didn’t like that my dad was Wiccan, even though he was willing to let her turn him. Mason let my parents join when she found out about James and myself,” Heather confirms, introducing herself before turning to point to each of the others in turn. “Megan Romani, niece to the Elven King and granddaughter to the Fairy King’s Chief Scribe. James, you seem to know, so I’m guessing you know who Jill and Lucy are, mostly, since they are Blue Moon Pack members. Jill is the Beta.”
Pausing to glance at David, Heather takes a deep breath before continuing, “Devyn Sharp is the daughter of the top Mage Healer at the Guild, but her dad is also one of the top Wiccan medical research professionals in the country.”
Valorie lights up, clapping her hands in excitement, “Your father is Andrew Sharp?” Devyn nods slightly, wincing as Valorie squeals in happiness, “Please tell me he is coming to the council meeting. I haven't seen Andy since my mating.”
Devyn shrugs slightly, blushing at the attention of the older hybrid, “Um, probably. He and mom are still active in their coven and clan, so are likely to be asked to come to give their input.”
Hector chuckles, passing Kaycee his untouched plate when hers empties. When she raises an eyebrow at him, he shrugs, “I ate before you fainted.” Kaycee rolls her eyes but turns her focus on eating once more. Hector turns to look at Heather asking, “Why are you introducing everyone with their family ties?”
Heather glances at Katherine, Valorie, David and Nancy, before looking over at Hector. “I figure knowing who everyone is connected to might help with easing some of the tension of not knowing each other,” she replies timidly.
Heather’s words catch Kaycee’s full attention as she glances at her newly reunited family members as well. Swallowing her bite of food she clears her throat. “Um, well that's my Uncle David Dawn, Alpha of Fox River Pack, and his mate Valorie Dawn, uh…” Kaycee pauses in uncertainty.
Valorie smiles speaking up to help Kaycee, “I was an apprentice to the Supernatural Mythology Doctorate Program through the Juniper Coven’s Sponsored College of Research and Development.”
“Right, ‘cause you went to school with my mom,” Kaycee continues, smiling at her aunt before turning to continue the introductions, “This is their daughter Nancy Dawn and current Alpha Heir, making her my cousin. And…”
Kaycee falters as she goes to introduce Katherine, a feeling of terror filling her. Katherine notices the flash of terror in Kaycee’s eyes and reaches out to soothe her twin. Kaycee rubs her hands through her hair nervously as she calms a little, not able to look the others in the eyes as she tries to work out what to say.
Hector notices this and puffs out his chest as he decides to intervene in order to draw the attention from the twins’ interaction. “And I’m Kaycee’s boss man, the Team Lead. My dad is also the Guild Master for the Moon Watch Hunter’s Guild.”
David frowns at Hector’s statement glancing around the room. “Hunter’s Guild? Mason is working with the Hunters Guild?”
“Well, nix Ometha, Kaycee, is a hunter for that guild, so it makes sense to werona with them on this,” Jill comments offhandedly.
David looks at Kaycee straightens her posture and stares back at him. Locking eyes with his niece David starts to laugh, the remaining tension in the room leaving even as the hunters all look at him in confusion. Kaycee exchanges a look with Katherine who just shrugs.
As his laughter calms, David points to Katherine and Kaycee respectively, “Healer and Warrior, Jonny was so right.”
Kaycee and Katherine both frown in unison before replying in tandem, “Seriously Uncle David?”
The room goes silent as everyone processes what just happened. Valorie grins at the girls who are frozen at hearing their own matched words. The hunters look between the girls, confused as to what exactly happened as Nancy starts giggling at the twins, causing both girls to look at her and roll their eyes in unison.
Megan glances between Kaycee and Katherine, her face showing the dawning of understanding of what had just happened. Looking at Jill, she murmurs, “Martche’el.”
Kaycee looks at Megan and Jill as she hears the comment. Jill shuffles uncomfortably, glancing at the other hunters who look at Megan in confusion. Kaycee looks back at Katherine, who smiles encouragingly.
With a final deep breathe Kaycee rubs her hands through her hair again before confirming, “Yes, A’martche. Katherine is my twin.”
