Vision took long and fast steps that made her faster and slid towards an abandoned van situated along the highway. She brought out her hand and gestured Jerome to do the same. Jerome took one fast jump and bumped hard into the car to stop his momentum.
Both soon noticed that the metal of the car was hot, their backs were burning, and that smoke started to appear from below the vehicle. The left side of the van facing Burning Eye has already caught fire. But, since the van has been abandoned for years, its gasoline tank is bound to be empty of gas.
Jerome took Vision’s shoulders and shook them hard. He then placed his face near hers.
“Are you insane? She could’ve set you on fire!” Jerome said
“She can’t react that fast” Vision said, “My eye says so.” She continued while pointing at her left eye, whose pupil has gone from brown to blue.
“It has been almost 3 years since this road was last used, do you still remember the hidden areas this road has to offer?” Vision asked
“I don’t, but I’ll give us some time.” Jerome said as he placed his hand on the floor, trying to feel the dust that had laid there due to all the years that it was left unused.
“Ernisum ka” he whispered
Using his wind, he made the dust fly and spread out in all directions, hiding them from Burning Eye
Jerome crossed his arms on his chest and created a barrier to protect them both from the dust.
“Recaritei Daimo” said Vision as metallic spikes appeared from the ground.
“Get us to close proximity, we’ll blind her permanently” she said
Jerome moved slowly, sliding his feet as he walks, but making sure that they made no noise. His barrier may only block away the dust, but it won’t protect them from the fire of Burning Eye.
“Wind Bearer, hold” Vision said
Jerome stopped his advance and prepared his wind for any little detail of Burning Eye that may appear out of the dust.
“I know where she is, listen, she is trying to set fire to whatever she sees.” Vision said
The crackling of fire could be heard nearby, and the eruptions of a freshly lit flame created orange hues in the middle of the smoke. Realizing that Burning Eye could still not see them, Jerome concentrated his power on Vision’s metallic spikes and flung them towards that area.
The blades cut through the dust and right into an area behind the cloud of smoke. When the final blade entered the dust, an ear-breaking shriek of pain made the earth rattle.
“Good, Wind Bearer.” Vision said
“We can’t be too sure yet, let’s move forward.” Jerome said as he began sliding his legs once again.
Maintaining their silence, little drops could be heard from beyond the dust, accompanied with heavy and disorganized footsteps. Following those sounds, they silently slid through the dust.
All was silent and still, with the wind gently scraping off the dust cloud little by little. The dust where they stood was still thick, but areas that lay further away from their original spot were dustless.
Jerome held Vision’s arm to stop her from moving. A pile of bricks was right in front of them, and they could not afford to move it.
“Attempt to manipulate the bricks in front of you” Vision said
“I can’t do that” Jerome replied
“Remember what you did with the air, and do the same to the bricks” Vision said
Jerome stared at the bricks in front of him. He is unable to feel his power entering the brick, nor is he able to feel the brick at all, but, with a held breath, he whispered
“Ernisum ka”
Nothing happened, and the bricks didn’t move.
“The Breaker’s System allows anyone with a talented eye to decipher a Breaker’s true ability. Your true ability is beyond my own capability to decipher, meaning, you could potentially be stronger than Destroyer. All you have to do is practice your power.” Vision said
“This is not the correct time to practice newly learned skills.” Jerome said.
The dust has thinned out some more. It forced both Jerome and Vision to look for another hiding spot. Jerome found another alley, and both silently hid there. Vision peaked through and saw that one of Burning Eye’s eyes have been punctured.
“Cover me” she said as she ran towards another car.
“There’s no dust!” Jerome yelled, but he was too late
Vision, seeing that Jerome left nothing for her, manipulated the metallic car, causing it to fling towards her and become cover.
Before it could even cover Vision, the car caught fire and melted in the extreme heat.
“Vision!” Jerome shouted
He flung himself towards Omnipotent Vision without a moment's hesitation. Slowly, he began to realize that he had lost touch of his back. It had become numb, but the numbness soon turned into a blazing inferno.
He tried to hide the pain, but it was too much. His vision slowly blurred and faded, while his body felt dry. Unable to absorb it all, he fell to the ground.
Somehow, he was still conscious. All that he could see was the face of a girl, who stared at him with great intensity. She lifted her hand and inserted a syringe into Jerome's shoulder.
In an instant, his vision returned and he was able to lift himself again.
"What was that?" he asked
"Doesn't matter, what matters is this" said Omnipotent Vision, pointing behind Jerome.
What stood between them and Burning Eye was a brick wall that was lousily assembled. Its structure however, had no holes to expose them.
"I made this?" he asked
"It seems so" she replied.
Jerome stared at his hands and saw that his markings turned slightly reddish, a color that denoted a Type B Breaker.
Burning Eye’s footsteps drew closer to the wall he had just created.
Their distances got closer, but as long as she could not see them, they were safe. Using the time he has, Jerome cut the connection of the wall from the floor.
"I got an idea, place some spikes on the other side of the wall" he said
Omnipotent Vision placed her palm on the wall and both of them felt spike-like objects emerge to the other side.
He placed his hands firmly on the wall, and with the force of the air, propelled it straight towards Burning Eye.
The impact lifted Burning Eye from the floor along with the wall, landing 70 feet away from where they collided. The metal spike which punctured her eye was pushed by the wall, killing her upon impact.
Jerome sat down and sighed.
He approached Burning Eye and cut through her flesh and bones to extract her heart, which still contained the Breaker system intact.
He held them firmly in his hands as he chanted.
“Magnus Magicae, set!” he said
A magic circle appeared below him, similar to the one he revealed to Vision.
“I never got to know your true name, but a funeral won’t be needed for you. No breaker deserves a funeral.” He said
He placed the system in the middle of the magic circle and stepped out.
“Absorb” he commanded
Absorb was an ability granted to all breakers. It allowed them to absorb the systems of breakers who have passed away, granting them their powers. This allowed any breaker to be the most powerful, as long as they keep absorbing the systems of breakers who have fallen before them.
After giving a final look dead body with him, Jerome took a stone from all the wreckage, and threw it into the air, only for it to freeze.
“As promised.” An unknown man said
“We meet again, Destroyer.” Jerome replied
