I've been making blbl for just under a year now even though its only been on Tapas for about a month. I'm happy to make this milestone in subs already, so here's a little thank-you pin up :)

Boys Love Boys' Love is, basically, an urban-fantasy slice of life. Set in an alternate 1996, it follows the story of Dakota Ryder as he reconnects with his high school besties and trying to summon a rebound after his recent break up.
Sort of a love/hate letter to the yaoi genre, the idea for BLBL came about after seeing too many non-consensual scenes portrayed as a guilty erotic pleasure. While the conversation about consent is always a good one to have, and portraying the reality of sexual communication is complex, so often outright assault is played off as "sexy" in BL/yaoi without any analysis or comment.
Plenty of harmful tropes exist in a genre that markets gay sexuality to a primarily straight audience, and very few other lgbt identities make appearances (and when they do it sure isn't great! The poor trans women and femmes of the manga realm....) and Boys Love Boys' Love seeks to correct that in some small way.
This is a primarily self-indulgent work of fiction by a gay and trans creator who wishes to give something fun and sexy and inclusive for adults to read.
