Nathen's face must've been quite absurd, for Matthew was shooting him a rather concerned glance.
Nathen shot an odd glance back, stood up, and pushed his chair in, pausing for a moment before running into the hallway. It was only a moment before he realized he had no idea what was where in this unfamiliar home. It was a bit too lavish for his taste, and it smelled oddly fresh. He supposed his own home reeked of booze and the general musk of uncleanly living habits.
Only now, this unfamiliar cleanliness was suffocating. Clean white walls closing around him like the padding of an insane asylum. Only fitting, Nathen supposed in a moment of clarity, he was, after all, going insane.
Matthew ducked his head into the hallway, a concerned look crossing his slightly flabby brow. "Darling?" He asked, "are you feeling ill?"
Nathen only managed to utter a squeak before ducking into the closest door. He quickly closed it behind him, leaning over the doorknob like some sort of shrine. The shiny metal reflected his, or perhaps, HER face. Nathen was horrified but mesmerized in some odd, twisted way. He found himself checking the door was locked again and again, as though it would magically come undone.
Once Nathen was sure he was safely secured in the room, he took a look around. A simple bathroom greeted him. He squinted, trying to find some sense of security in the room, but the icy blue walls stared right back, offering no warmth.
Nathen found himself staring into the eyes of his own reflection, trying to steady his breathing. Perhaps the mirror wasn't the best place to turn, however, for he quickly found his reflection winning the staring contest. It was incredibly unnerving, staring into where his golden eyes used to be. The baby blues seemed to be staring right through him. He pursed his lips, taking a deep breath.
Nathen had no clue what was going on, aside from the fact this was abnormal. People didn't just wake up as other people. He spun around slowly, surveying the small room.
With no clues as to why this was happening, Nathen took a deep breath and made a decision. He was going to have to play the part, or else risk being sent to an insane asylum. As unnerving as it was, an insane asylum was more unnerving. Unnerving enough to convince him to play along with this new body. He locked eyes with his reflection and gave her a wink.
