“Ernisum ka” Jerome said
The ground shook and before him, rose a magnificent brick wall. It wasn’t thick, nor was it tough, but it was better than the thickened air that served as his only defense before.
He placed his hand on it and studied the details. Truly, it felt as if it was the real thing, and not just something that he created with the aid of magic. It was as genuine as the bricks he saw the day before in his battle against Burning Eye.
He tried to concentrate on his power once more, placing more energy and focus into his art. In a single heavy breath, he released all the energy he held and out came another wall, this time, reinforced with metal.
"Impressive" said Omnipotent Vision, who appeared from the room beside him.
He had learned the metal manipulation from Omnipotent Vision. Mixing it with his newfound powers, he could create a wall strong enough to create a fortress.
It was a marvel to behold, a wonder in his eyes. He could not only shape wind, but also bricks, from seemingly nothing.
“Enjoying your powers?” Destroyer asked, as he appeared from nowhere.
Omnipotent Vision exposed her weapons in an instant, but Jerome held her back.
“Why do you always come to me? All you ever do is talk.” Jerome said
“Its because there is a weak connection between us. You can see it too, can’t you? Fate connects us, even if we do not know any other relations between us other than as enemies.” Destroyer said
“So, why are you here this time?” Jerome asked
“I found these.” Destroyer said as he held the tapes up in the air. “I listened to them, and they had your name on it. Dr. Nicholas Johnson, maker of the disease, knows you by name, Jerome.” Destroyer said.
“And where is Dr. Johnson now?” Jerome asked
“I do not know. He may have died, or he may have become another breaker who forgot who he was. Either way, we should listen to the last one. Its a special tape. Mind Displayer Machine, do you have that?” asked Destroyer
“No, but I’m sure that Silent Dagger does. She remembered her past with the aid of it, but she refused to tell me my fault in her life.” Jerome replied
“Then, let’s find Silent Dagger, shall we?” Destroyer said
“Sure. But what about your leg?” Jerome asked
“This little leg won’t bring me down. It’ll heal in time.” Destroyer replied
He held Jerome and Omnipotent Vision by their arms and warped
Destroyer’s warp was instant, and it allowed him to travel wherever he needed to be, as long as he was given enough time to prepare it, making it useless in battle. Once he visited a location, he could travel back at it whenever he needed to.
They arrived in front of Silent Dagger's hideout. It was an old apartment building, one of the average ones located in the suburbs of the city.
Destroyer pulled them down to an abandoned car in the driveway.
“Careful, this hideout makes it easy for her to shoot us from within. Let’s enter silently.” Destroyer said
Jerome nodded and crouched his way to the next car, being extra careful to not get spotted. He looked back, then proceeded to the next car. He kept his eyes on the ground, being watchful about cans and branches he could step on.
There was only one more car to go, when a dagger flew in front of Jerome. Quickly, he hid behind the car he was currently at.
“I didn’t come to fight, Silent Dagger!” Jerome shouted
A dagger broke through the window beside him.
“Gominus Na!” he said
A single step bolted him into the doorway of the apartment. His body crashed into the wooden door that had been held up by scraps of used wood. He broke through and rolled into the lobby. It hid him from Crystal, but it also made her aware of his presence in the apartment.
The lobby was dark and out of shape, it was as if a storm blew everything around and left things where they lay.
He looked around for the stairs. Without light, his options were limited. The street lights outside were no longer functional, unlike the ones at his place, so it would only be logical that the apartment itself would have no electricity.
He scanned the walls with his eye and noticed that one of the walls had an empty frame, as if a door had been cut out. He kicked the debris that blocked the wall with the aid of Gominus Na, and it led to another hallway with three rooms on both sides.
He carefully threaded the hallways, with an eye kept on the glass shards that littered the wooden floor.
Just like the other buildings, the apartment remained unused after the event that took place three years ago. Its floors could crumble and fall, and the entire building could collapse if it was older than expected.
He felt every door in the hall, his hand could detect a heat signature from the other side. He made sure not to make a sound once his metallic hand touches the wooden door, but a faint clink could still be heard.
He was just about finished when a heat signature in his palm kept getting bigger and bigger. He pulled his hand back and went into a stance, but he was too late. The door gave way, a male breaker jumped out of the door and straight towards his face. He held the breaker’s shirt and tossed him down to the ground.
The breaker screamed in pain as the glass shards attached to his back. Not giving a second to rest, he lounged down and punched the breaker in the face with his metallic arm. He could feel the skull of the breaker fracturing under the force of his punch.
“Ernisum ka” he said
He prepared for another punch, but the breaker was able to put his feet on his chest. He extended his legs and sent Jerome flying through the ceiling and into the second floor. The doors opened, and more breakers emerged into the dark hallway.
He estimated that there were at least 4 breakers in there with him.
They stood within range of each other, eyes stared directly into another’s. Their seals were activated, but nobody moved. Jerome was a stranger who stepped into their territory, they all know their own powers except him.
He clinched his fist and silently crafted a dagger. His muscles were shaking, and his mind was aware of everything happening. His instincts had sharpened, and all that was left now is for a single person to make a move.
He looked at the one to his left, a tall man with a bald head stood there. He held a long hammer on both hands.
Beside him was a female breaker with no weapon held. Her hands were open, and her stance was defensive. She looked thin and fragile, but she emitted an aura that felt like a great wall that cannot be broken.
Beside her was another male. He had no weapon. His presence could barely be felt, as if there was no threat at all, but his orange seal told a different tale.
None of them attacked, nor did any of them move a muscle. Jerome inched back, slowly returning to the hole he popped out from. He slid his foot back, one limb at a time, until he was close enough to jump back. But as he prepared to jump, the breaker from below leapt up and blocked his way.
He was surrounded from all angles with no chance of escape. A breaker with extraordinary strength and regenerative powers stood behind him, and three unknown breakers stood before him.
He placed his arms in front of him and formed a cross, and with open palms he declared: “Ernisum Maxima Na!”
A huge gust of wind blew from his body, like a storm kept in a bottle that blew, the wind pushed everyone as far as the walls could take them.
Quickly, while the rest were still downed, he ran to the end of the hallway, and saw another set of stairs.
“Gominus Na” he said.
He skipped through the flight of stairs and pushed through the debris that blocked the floor above while being chased by the breakers from the floor below.
The fire alarm rang, and doors opened from numerous areas inside the apartment.
The rest were aware of their presence.
Or rather, aware of HIS presence. Jerome was unable to find Destroyer, who he thought was just behind him all this time.
“Ahahaha, perhaps it is time to make peace?” he jokingly said to the four who had chased him.
“You come in here uninvited, destroy the floors, wreck the ceilings, attack the tenants, yet you desire peace?” the bald breaker said.
“All I needed was the Mind Displayer Machine, once I get it, I’ll leave.” Jerome replied
“What makes you think that we’ll give it easy? Silent Dagger uses it to remind her of who she is, and we’ll protect it no matter what the cost.” The bald breaker replied
“Who is she to everyone here?” Jerome asked
“She saved us when we had no shelter, no food, no water. She provided us a place to stay and protected us with her ability. Ever since we were lost and found again three years ago, we owe our loyalty to the woman who kept us safe.” The bald breaker replied
“Take me to her.” Jerome said
“Why would we do that?” the bald breaker asked
Jerome looked at them, his seal glowing in the darkness. He relaxed his stance and turned off his seal. With a smile, he looked at them.
“Because I am one of her most treasured memories.” He replied.
