Chapter 5
“I am the Queen of Demons if that is what you are asking.” She replied.
He gaped at her.
“Ma’am err Queen I am sorry for my impudence to have gotten in your carriage as such!” He half bowed awkwardly towards her.
“Its of no importance, I said I would allow you to enter so you do not need to mind my status.”
He appeared nervous in her presence and did not seem to know what to do with his hands.
Victoria analyzed him for a moment, he was taller than her and had shaggy dark chocolate brown hair with milk chocolate brown eyes, the combination amused her. His hands showed signs of obvious fieldwork and he was pale but slightly tanned.
Victoria’s skin was white as snow from staying inside the castle for years and her hair was curly with coils. Her hair was fire red but her eyes were black. She lifted a clawed finger and pointed at him, he visibly winced.
“Calm yourself, I will not harm you in anyway.”
He looked at her wide-eyed.
“I know that, I know you would not harm any of us humans.”
She blinked at his reply and cocked her head at him.
Then why is he so nervous? She thought in confusion.
Suddenly she had an idea.
“Sterling correct?”
He nodded.
“May I hire you an a translator for me? While I am in the capital?”
“Uh…” Sterling said wide-eyed.
Victoria pulled out a bag of silver coins, roughly about 100 of them.
“It will pay 100 silver coins in total, half now half later.” She told him and poured half the amount into a different bag, handing it to him.
Sterlings eyes widened even more and he bowed his head.
“I! Thank you Queen Victoria! Thank you so much!”
She shrugged and looked back out the window.
She could tell the young man was staring at her but she choose to ignore it.
She mentally sighed, wishing she could go back to sleep.
The scenery changed once more and turned greener, showing a small village in the distance. She watched as people and other carriages passed by.
She watched until the castle came into view, given how hard it was to see though she assumed it would be another day until they were to the castle.
“Queen Victoria?”
She looked over at Sterling who spoke.
“I um… thank you very much… for this and….for becoming Queen of the Demons.” He said softly.
“I can understand the coins…...but why for becoming Queen?”
Sterling fiddled with the bags string for a moment and looked at her through his shaggy hair, his eyes sparkling gently.
Victoria's breathe hitched and she blinked in confusion.
