Alan's Pov
Sunday was here and mom was dragging me to church. We haven't been to church in a while but I guess it's because I've always been home alone and she's been at work. Now that she's not at the job she once had I guess she'll have more free time.
"Mom, why do I have to go?" I groaned and she sighed as she was making us breakfast.
"We should go since we haven't for a while," she said and I grumbled.
"We haven't since like forever. Why now?" I asked as she sat a plate in front of me with burned bacon and messy eggs.
"Sorry has been a while since I cooked," she said and I huffed taking a bite out of the bacon which was a bit of a struggle.
"It's fine," I grumbled between chews as my mom sat at the table with me after placing another plate of food down.
"Honey you didn't put on a suit yet," she said getting some eggs on her form
"When do I ever wear suits?" I asked after swallowing and she gave me a long look.
"You did when we use to go to church," she said looking down at her food before eating and I sighed.
"Fine mom I'll wear my suit," I said and ate some more of my bacon then tried some eggs that actually tasted pretty good.
After eating I went upstairs to my room. I looked through my drawers not finding anything but a tie to my suit. Guess I would have to look in my closet. It was the messiest place, second place is under my bed. Looking through my closet I eventually found my suit. And let me tell you it hardly fit me. But it was my only suit. I walked out in tennis shoes. I couldn't fit my old church shoes at all. I was lucky to even get the suit on me. When I came downstairs mom was waiting for me and turned to look at me.
"Very good," she said smiling and as her eyes trailed down they shot up at me, she gave me a look.
"Sorry church shoes too small," I say walking down all the way and she rolled her eyes before we made our way to the front door.
Once again we were walking out together. Walking to her car together. It was a while since I seen the old mauve purple beaut. Or even been in it for that matter. I got on the passenger side which felt weird because when mom didn't sit here...he used to sit here. I shook my head to get rid of the thoughts as mom got in on the driver's side.
"You look so handsome." my mom said as she put on her seatbelt and turns to me smiling brightly and I groaned.
"Mom I look great every day," I said and she shot me a playful glare which I ended up smiling in response.
"So quick with snarky responses," she said shaking her head as she started the car and shot me another look. "Put your seatbelt on," she said and I nodded doing so.
"Well, I get it from you," I said as she pulled out the driveway and she sighed with a smile before turning to drive on the road.
"You do, you do," she said and we drove past our house soon driving past other houses in our neighborhood. "I think we're going to buy you some church shoes."
"I thought we needed to go to church," I said rolling my eyes. "Who cares how we look expect them. Judgey son of-"
"Watch your mouth boy." she snapped and I shot her a look smiling innocently. "Not everyone in the church is good but we can still go."
"Why can't we just pray and stuff at home then? Besides what if he doesn't even exist." I grumbled.
"Well..honey I guess we don't really know. But I do know that we will be just fine," she said softly and glanced at me.
"I guess your right." I shrugged and she smiled looking back at the road.
"I'm always right," she said and I rolled my eyes smiling.
On our way to church, we hit a lot of stop lights. Guess we were a bit early though so we shouldn't be late. I wondered if this would become a thing we do now on every Sunday. Glancing out the window I saw some guy staring at us. I shot him a dirty look as he rolled down his window. Seems like he wanted our attention...well more my mother. I guess she was looking nice, today. I smirked to myself and then tapped my mom on her arm.
"Hm?" she looked over to me and I pointed out my window which she glanced over at the man. "Roll down your window," she said and so I did, with an annoyed look on my face.
"Hey there, is that your brother?" the man asked with a bright smile that made my eyes burn.
My mother's mouth gaped open at his question. I glanced between them and grumbled. He knew she was not my sister. He's just flattering her to get something.
"Um no, he's my son. What do you want?" my mom asked recovering.
"Well you were quite the eye-catcher," he said with a wink. "May I have your number to possibly take you out some time?" he asked his flirtiness actually fading and he sounded more genuine and nervous.
I guess he wasn't too bad. But I got my eye on him. He better watch himself. I shot him a glare then glanced at mom. My prayers must have been answered because the light went green.
"Oh um sorry sir. I have to go." my mom said and started driving off as she did so I smirked at the guy while rolling up the window so we could hear him less if he tried speaking.
