Two weeks passed by in a slow blur.
Rory found that he didn't need to step outside for much except to get some fresh air. The hotel offered him three meals a day plus room and board...all for free.
He hadn't seen Red since his first morning at the hotel and he was starting to wonder if he had really made up anything and everything that had happened to him.
...
"Am I going crazy?" Rory asked himself as he was brushing his teeth. "I'm going crazy. Only a crazy person asks if they're crazy."
A deep chuckle filled the small bathroom causing Rory to choke on water as he was rinsing his mouth.
"Jeez." Rory complained the moment he could breath again. "What's with people popping up and scaring me?"
When he turned around, he felt all the breath he had regained leave him in a whoosh. Ice was casually standing in the doorway, his ice blue eyes watching Rory with a strange intensity.
"Hi," Rory greeted as he set his toothbrush down.
Ice gave him a small smile. "I think it's time you come with me, don't you think?"
It took Rory a long moment before he realized he needed to respond. He had been mesmerized by his voice. "Yes?"
Ice let out another chuckle before he held out his hand. "Trust me. I won't let anyone or thing harm you."
Rory found himself drawn to Ice once again as he reached out and grabbed his cold hand. A pleasant tingle shot up his arm at the bare contact they had.
Ice pulled him close, placing a soft kiss on his head. "This might hurt..."
Without warning, Rory suddenly found himself floundering in the air as he struggled to keep his hold on Ice. Everything went pure black and he found that he couldn't breathe. What little air he had almost expired when he felt a cold grip around his neck.
Forcing his eyes shut, he clutched tighter to Ice in fear.
Just as soon as it started, it stopped.
Rory's feet found solid ground once more and he was gasping for breath, clutching Ice's arm as he was nearly dry heaving. "What...was...that?"
Ice let out a laugh, saying, "I've brought you to my home, Rory, where we will talk about what to do regarding the immortal after your blood."
Rory felt ice in his heart, no pun intended. Ice's words sounded too foreboding for it to be anything pleasant.
"So...we're not in my world?"
"No. We are in mine."
Fucking fantastic.
