Tightening the ribbon around the collar of my high school uniform I could smell the breakfast from downstairs. "Ayako breakfast is ready!" And that was my cue to leave.
"I am coming mom!” I yelled while trying to avoid tumbling down the stairs as I ran. Arriving downstairs peering in the living room that was connected to the kitchen. I could see my gruff but sweet father reading his newspaper. Looking at the right side where the kitchen is I could see my petite mom swaying left to right while humming cheerfully.
My dad obviously liked that and would give my mom every now and then a look while wearing a heartfelt smile. Shaking my head in embarrassment I walked over to the table and grabbed the toast.
“I’m heading out for school!” I yelled while heading fast for the door.
Mom’s head popped out of the corridor. “Aren’t you going to eat here?”
I sat down trying to put on the shoes. “Nope , if I come late one more time then the teacher will have my head for breakfast.”
Mom sighed while crossing her arms. “Can’t you just wake up on time? We even bought you five alarms!” She said a matter of fact.
“And I’ve already told you that my biological system doesn’t agree with the alarms.” I said fixing my skirt after standing up.
Dad started to call for me as I was reaching for the doorknob. I looked behind me and I saw my parents looking at me smiling from ear to ear.
“Yes, dad?” I asked.
“Happy 16th birthday.” He said in his low but soothing husky voice. “and behave.”
Rolling my eyes I grinned at my parents. “Thanks mom and dad.” I opened the door. “Oh and I can’t promise that I’ll behave, but I will at least try” I smiled mischievous. “I’m leaving!” I waved them off.
“Have a safe trip!” Mom yelled as I closed the door behind me.
But as soon as the door was closed I couldn’t help but to start complaining how it was utterly bullshit that I had to go to school on my birthday! I’m only once 16 for God sake! Before I can properly celebrate the day will be over.
As I continued to grumble left and right I could hear a familiar sound calling for my attention. I looked down to see a small creature with beautiful black fur and glowing blue eyes staring at me. It was my cat Kuro.
I Crouched down so that I would be around the same level as him. “Hey buddy what’s up.” I cooed as I ruffled his soft fur on his head. For as long as I can remember this cute little cat has been at my side since birth. I don’t even know how I would survive without him at this point.
He started to lick me to get my attention and started to ran towards the wall below our window clawing at it as if he was trying to tell me something.
“What’s got you so riled up?” I said trying to pick him up, but my movement halted as soon as I heard my parents talking.
“Honey, we should have told her the truth there and then. It can happen at any moment now.” Mom said worriedly.
Dad went with his hand trough his hair in agitation. “I know dear. We will sit her down as soon as possible.”
“I hope that everything’s goes alright today.” Mom sighed.
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion of what I’ve just heard. What are they talking about? I was deep in thoughts of trying to figure out what they were talking about.
But Kuro pulled me out my thoughts just as quick. I looked at my watch and slightly paled. “Shit!” I ruffled Kuro’s hair one last time and ran off to school.
