I'm not sure if I'm interpreting this piece correctly, but it reminded me of something.
There was this kid in my class who's been bullied by the same people for years. One of my friends was the only one who tried to reach out to him. She felt like she understood him, and wanted to get to know him better.
But he transferred out of school a few months ago. We haven't heard from him since.
