Alan's pov
It was a normal Monday morning. The day most people hated. And I was one of those people that hated it. I was yawning and tired in my first class of the day when the intercom turned on. Morning announcements would be going on and I never usually pay attention or remember them. But instead of hearing the principal's voice or vice principal I hear another familiar voice.
"You may not know me but I'm a fellow student who will be on the intercom for now on. Hope my voice isn't too annoying, heh. These are your morning announcements, Olivia's birthday is today..." he went on about peoples birthdays today and I smiled.
Bob did well on his first day. He made some corny jokes here and there but I paid close attention. I didn't even fall asleep. He was all worried for nothing. The announcements were less dry as they usually were and I'm sure everyone liked this change. Especially being told the weather which wasn't done before. No use to me but I could tell some people appreciated it.
I made sure to keep reminding myself to talk to Bob about it when we see each other or something. And the soonest time we meet would be in our English class. I didn't see him on the bus this morning. I thought maybe he didn't come to school today.
"Hey-" Bob turned around quickly covering my mouth. "What is it?" I asked muffled.
"Why are you talking to me?" he asked in a whisper and I blinked then pulled his hand away from my mouth.
"Don't ask a stupid question like that," I said rolling my eyes. "Anyway congrats on your announcement. Seems like it went alright." I said and his face lit up.
"Yeah, I'm surprised many didn't make fun of me or anything. Not like most would know me by my voice but yeah." Bob said grinning which was a sight I normally didn't see.
We headed to our desks and took our seats as more students came into the classroom. Once we got settled the teacher started class before the bell. English always made me feel sleepy. Not only was it really cold in her class but it was boring. Today we only had to read a book and answer some questions. I looked for the answers then wrote them down and closed the boom. Work was done, now I can relax and take a nap. Glancing at Bob it seemed like he was reading. He was probably reading the whole chapter to find the answers instead of just looking for the answers. I closed my eyes slowly falling asleep.
I heard a loud slam right next to me. My eyes flew open and I sat up quickly. Many eyes were on me, one of them being narrowed ones from my English teacher who stared down at me with a scowl. My book was closer to my head than the last place I put it when I closed my eyes to take a nap. I cleared my throat smiling.
"Hello Ms. Evening," I said but her scowl didn't budge one bit.
"Hello Alan, no napping in class. Get more sleep at night," she said and I grumbled nodding.
"Yes ma'am," I said and she gave me a long look before making her way back to her desk.
I felt particular eyes staring at me still. Turning my head in the direction of where Bob was I found him staring. He shook his head and went back to reading his book. Grumbling I picked up my book and began reading my book. Well, I was trying to read it. The lunch bell saved me from that class I started falling asleep again too.
"You need to stop staying up late," Bob said as he passed me.
"Excuse me you're the reason why I was up well plus me working on the playlist for the Halloween Dance." I scoffed catching up to him quickly.
"Well, you don't see me falling asleep in class. Plus I didn't stay up late or keep you up late. Maybe your playlist thing kept you up. Good you were getting work done though." Bob said pushing open the cafeteria doors.
"Well, whatever." I yawned as we went into the lunch line and I heard someone clear their throat.
I turned around to see Landon and Kaden. They kept glancing at me then Bob. I tilt my head then said hey to them but before I could say anything else they both tugged me into another lunch line. I blinked and gave them weird looks.
"What was that all about?" I asked and Landon slapped my back laughing.
"Dude we just saved your ass. Duke was coming into the cafeteria. Pretty sure you don't want him seeing you be all buddy-buddy with someone he picks on now do ya?" Landon asked as Kaden rolled his eyes crossing his arms.
"Why are you hanging out with that kid anyway?" Kaden asked and I shrugged.
"He's cool I don't see the harm well besides Duke." I rolled my eyes and Kaden nodded before glancing back at Bob then me.
"Well if he's cool then okay but for now let's just stay in this line and each out for Duke," Kaden said and Landon groaned.
"Dude letting Alan hang out with that guy is bad news. We're in this group to be protected and hanging out with him will make Alan and possibly us lose that." Landon grumbled as we moved up in the line.
"Guys let's just focus on something else," I said trying to end the topic of this discussion.
"Well let's go to our own table and you introduce us to this guy," Kaden said looking at me and I nodded as Landon groaned.
"I still think this is a bad idea," Landon said as we moved up again.
"So is you acting like a Trex member." Kaden snapped and Landon's eyes went wide before things went quiet.
"You two are apart of the group too. One of us needs to act like them so things don't get suspicious." Landon said softly.
"Don't worry Landon, things will be fine. And you both will like him." I said and they both didn't really respond as we got our lunch trays.
