Sam let out a sigh as he rubbed at his eyes and pushed away from his desk. His new neighbor should be arriving any minute and Sam could already feel the pull to keep editing and writing.
He sincerely hoped his new neighbor wasn't a crazy person like the last one almost a year ago.
Sam had been afraid to come home most nights.
With another sigh, he looked down at his phone after getting a message from his landlord saying the guy was here.
Standing, Sam quickly gathered his keys and phone and left his two bedroom apartment to greet the man at the elevator. He lived on the top floor fifteen stories up.
The view was great and the rent was decent for such a nice apartment complex.
Just as he reached the elevator, the doors pinged open revealing a tall, broad shouldered man with pale blue eyes and raven black hair. He was about the same height as Sam.
However, Sam was lanky with white blonde hair and soft green eyes.
He quickly strode forward and held out his head. "Hello, I'm Sam. I live next door and I'll be helping you move in if that's okay."
"Calvin," the stranger greeted in a deep voice, his head cocked to the side in question.
Sam saw his confusion and forced away a blush. "Sorry, my landlord thought it'd be nice if you had some help."
"Not a problem," Calvin replied with a smile. "Most of my stuff is in my car."
"Okay," Sam agreed with a smile of his own.
It didn't take them long to move everything into Calvin's apartment. He didn't have much with him.
"Would you like to grab some lunch?" Calvin asked after setting down the last box.
"I would, but I have to finish editing a manuscript by midnight. Maybe tomorrow?" Sam replied, half disappointed that he couldn't spend more time with Calvin.
"Manuscript?" Calvin asked.
"Yeah, I'm a writer." Sam replied. He glanced at his watch and let out a shriek. "Shit! I gotta go! It was nice meeting you!"
Calvin stared at Sam's retreating figure, the pieces slowly clicking in place.
