Beside her, Zi Yi nudged her arm and spoke, "No wonder why they're extremely popular, they act so real!"
Jiao Yu stiffly turned towards Zi Yi and didn't know if she should cry or laugh. Grabbing the hand of a confused Zi Yi, Jiao Yu starts to step backward heading towards a door in the furthest corner.
...
Zi Yi was pulled in a room by the veiled young female beside her and upon entering, her eyes were suddenly covered by a small and delicate hand. Then she heard Jiao Yu's voice beside her ear, "Close your eyes no matter what."
Zi Yi wondered what those words meant but then she suddenly heard two muffled voices coming inside the room.
Admittedly, Jiao Yu was worried that they will get involved with more trouble staying out. That's why, when Jiao Yu pulled Zi Yi to this room, she was not able to guess what was inside but only heard muffled voices from the other side of the door.
And that is why she entered without a care but regretfully, Jiao Yu wished that she showed a little bit of care as the first thing she saw upon entering the room was two people in a state of undress while holding each other firmly, and it seemed as though they were too caught up to their business and not paying any attention to their surroundings or perhaps, they simply didn't care.
Jiao Yu couldn't help but feel her blood rushing to her face and felt that the temperature of the room was slightly hotter.
Seeing Zi Yi's furrowing brows, she knew that Zi Yi was trying to decide what noise was that so she dragged herself and Zi Yi out of the room again before Zi Yi could decode it, closing the door with a 'bang', making sure that it would take the attention of the people inside.
When they got outside, Jiao Yu took her hand away from Zi Yi's eyes but did not let go of her arm while pulling her to another side. Maybe Jiao Yu was walking too fast or she just couldn't detect the presence of the person as she bumped with someone and almost fell from the impact, making Zi Yi who was behind her bump her head unto Jiao Yu's back.
Time seemed to slow down as black obsidian eyes stared back at Jiao Yu's honey colored eyes. In front of Jiao Yu stood a youth at his early twenties, His facial features were beautiful but had subtle gentleness. Even though he had a rich playboy appearance, he had a kind of serious air that was transcendence to his age.
From behind, she heard Zi Yi spoke, "What is it now?"
"Nothing." Jiao Yu uttered as her eyes unknowingly swept to that person's eye and went to the stairs, going down towards were workers from the restaurant entered and exit to and fro the lobby after apologizing to the youth she just bumped with.
After they just securely entered the place, the commotion in the lobby broke again as soldiers stormed inside. Two soldiers successfully reprimanded the man after a while of struggle and the place was cleared for the head of the soldiers to lead an investigation.
He Jiang, who was in charge of the soldiers patrolling around the city noted that the woman lying on the floor was part of the troupe and came from the Sui Empire while the man they just reprimanded was a scholar from a noble family in Zhou. From the witnesses' statements, they told him that the man had too much drink and insulted the woman by harassing her, treating her like women from a brothel, then the woman splashed water to the man angering him and the next thing that the witnesses saw was the body of the woman falling on the floor with blood oozing from her body.
Upon on his musing, his sight was blocked with a dark purple robe and when He Jiang looked up, he thought his soul would jump out of his body.
In that same lobby, there were two people in front of him, one stood stiffly and cold while the other man was just standing in a relaxed manner. The idle man extended his hand to the tea that was on top of a table near them, slowly raising the white jade teacup to his lips. After a light sip, there was a gentle and perfect smile on the corner of the lips. "Good tea."
Putting down the teacup, he flicked his sleeves and his eyes landed to the stunned He Jiang. "One hoped that I have not interrupted the investigation and created more trouble for you."
"Of... Of course not, this lowly one would never think that Yu Xiang would be trouble nor does Yu Xiang needs to worry about what this lowly one thinks." He Jiang firmly cupped his hands, lowering his head as he spoke.
In front of him stood the only man who was able to gain the title of the prime minister of the right in such a young age of twenty-one.
The Di son of Yu Xuanling one of the great generals, Yu Jie Xing. He was already renowned for having both his father's heroic spirit and his mother's gentleness in his childhood, even now anyone would be vying for Yu Jie Xing's favor and attention but only a very few were able to do that.
Surprisingly, he shocked the world when instead of following after his father's steps, he had taken the route to be part of the court official if the imperial palace and many people including his father Yu Xianling persuaded him to not become an official of the court yet, no one was able to stop him from doing so and his achievements and gains also never ceased. Even the emperor constantly praised him and it was evident that Yu Jie Xing had gained the dragon's favor and trust after he fought against the rebellion of Xun'nu in the northern region and won.
It was a great feat for Yu Jie Xing since no one was able to do it for decades, making him the only person in the Zhou Empire to have such achievements, not even his father could do it. Attracting people to can't help but admire the man who did all of this and not all of them could be graced with his presence.
And yet the man is now standing in front of him. Dark purple robes with golden thread embroidered on the lapel of his robes. Two straight thick eyebrows, eyes sculpted designed by the gods to tease and capture the hearts of the people, prominent nose and lips that were made for unspoken pleasure.
Yu Jie Xing didn't speak for a while as he observes He Jiang and saw how stunned and frightened he was. He Jian did not know why but it seemed as though his body was attacked by an unknown force as Yu Jie Xing's probing eyes landed on him.
"Truth be told I came here not only because it was a coincidence but because I had some business to take care of and won't hold you off any longer but there's something that needs your help to resolve a matter."
He Jiang looked up and revealed a face full of confusion, "This lowly one does not seem to understand Yu Xiang's words."
Yu Jie Xing's lips hooked up and slowly spoke, "The person who was stabbed to death today was a relative of an envoy the Sui sent but unfortunately today, I was unable to meet the envoy due to this unforeseen matter."
"And today's matter must have been a great shock to everyone, but things should be resolved quickly before it brews much more troubles and considering that the victim came from Sui Empire, one must need to prevail justice to the victim's family." Yu Jie Xing played with the jade ring on his thumb.
He Jiang was not an idiot to understand such a straightforward statement from Yu Jie Xing and after giving an affirmation, he saw the two male turned and walk away from the scene.
....
Zi Yi was slightly confused why the two of them left the restaurant without watching the performance of the troupe and even want to go back, but listening to Jiao Yu's explanation of the incident that happened, she finally calmed down.
"We cannot easily just go back there as there are even more people gathering here and the Military offices have already dispatched soldiers to oversee the situation in there."
"And even though, we can stay and wait for things to settle before going back, it would be impossible to go back without letting anyone from both of our family know that we secretly went out to watch the troupe to perform and got caught up with this mess. That is why you need to not say a word of this to anyone after getting back." Jiao Yu stated as they found a way to get to the carriage they arrived with.
Zi Yi nods her head and said, "En."
When Jiao Yu returned to her courtyard, she found a tensed Jing Chu pacing back and forth. Jiao Yu tapped Jing Chu's shoulder, making the already tensed up Jing Chu jump in startle and seeing her mistress in front of her, she immediately poured all her anxiety and grief to Jiao Yu, "Young lady, thankfully you're back. The master had been looking for you since this morning when Young Lady left to go to Xia Renmin."
"En, Jing Chu boil some water for me to bath with, and tell the Minister that I'll go there once done."
