A week went by, and I was still stuck in my bed in the village. Each and every day that passed, I became more anxious. It had been too long since I last saw my mate. I kept asking for the day of my medical release, but the doctor always kept delaying it. She kept saying that my leg needed more time, but I perfectly knew that it was healed. I could walk without limping and when I run it didn’t hurt. I didn’t want to waste any time. I had to rejoin my mate. I had to make sure that he was indeed alright.
"Breakfast!" Sebastian joyfully shouted while coming into my bedroom.
“Thanks,” I grumbled unhappily about the conditions that were thrown at me.
"I have some good news, but you should eat first," he explained as he put the steaming tray filled with warm food on the table near my bed.
“I don’t want to hear it if it isn’t about my mate or the fact that I can finally leave this room,” I pouted as I sat down before picking up a spoon.
“I’m glad to say that you do want to hear it then,” my friend smirks as I stop eating as I rapidly turned to face him.
"Really?!" I answered happily.
“Why would I ever lie to you?” he shook his head while sighing. “After one last checkup, you’re free to go. I even found a way to make it back to the capital without you walking.”
“Is it really happening?
“Yes,” he laughed before pulling me off of him. “Eat. The doctor should be here soon.”
I didn’t need him to tell me that twice. Before I regained my seat, I had kissed my friend on his cheek. I may have seen him blush after that, but I wasn’t certain. Anyways, I was too occupied to gulp down the food in front of me. I was eating so fast that I nearly chocked thrice.
A little while later, the doctor came to my room and did the usual check up. When everything was in order, I took a quick shower and dressed up in record time. I could see my mate in a few hours. I can’t wait! I was really grateful to Sebastian. He didn’t need to find me a vehicle to transport me back to the capital. We could walk, but it would take a day instead of hours. Sebastian had always been thinking about my well being. He is truly a wonderful friend.
We both walked out of the building. Immediately, I spotted a strange looking chair and four bulky men surrounding it. I didn’t like the look they were giving me.
"So, he is the one mating with the enemy?" I heard one of them say while they talked to each other.
"He must have been very desperate," another man mocked.
"He may have been forced into it. I heard those Ignis people love to rape their mate. Apparently, they derive pleasure from it.”
“Gross!” they all said at the same time before snickering.
"If it was for me, I would take him for myself," the last one stated. “I mean look at him. He almost looks like a damn girl. His ass must be tight as fuck.”
"Cut it off," snapped Sebastian who seemed to have heard them too.
His tone was so cold and scary. I never saw him with so much anger in his eyes. He never looked at me like that before. It was almost he was a different person. I stayed quiet and hid my body behind Sebastian while looking at my feet.
I already knew that there would be rumours about me now that I mated a man from the opposing country. But to think that they would do it in front of me as if I wasn’t even here. It was too much for me to handle. I didn’t want it to, but it hurt a lot more than I thought.
"Don't listen to them. You know that Ryan loves you. Plus, you guys look really good together," he smiled gently as he put a hand on my shoulder.
“Thank you,” I smiled a little, but I was still intimidated by the looks these men were giving me.
"Now, we will use this little invention of mine to bring you back home,” he proudly showed me a chair with two long and thick sticks of wood on each side of it. It looked like a regular chair that had been glued to two long branches to lift it up.
It didn’t look stable at all...
"Y-you're not serious..." I commented in disbelief.
“What’s wrong? Isn’t it great? We will be able to carry you as we fly!” he explained with a beaming smile.
“I refuse to sit on that… thing.”
"Why? Don’t worry, I tested it myself. Nothing will happen to you," he answered before grabbing my hand and pulling me toward his creation.
"W-what if I fall? I can’t fly,” I asked hoping that would save me from the humiliation to come.
“Don’t worry, that’s why we are five! Four persons will carry you, and the chair while the fifth one will be flying slightly underneath us to catch you in case, you fall off the chair. Aren’t you excited, it almost looks like a throne!”
“Alright, but be careful!” I warned before awkwardly sitting on the chair.
“You’ll have to get a good grip, things can get a little shaky up there,” my friend stated before he signalled to the four other men to lift me up. “If any of you do anything funny, I will make you regret it.”
The four strangers nodded before counting to three and together they lifted me up with the sticks. They secured their hold by putting the stick on their shoulder. Then, they extended their wings before flapping them hard, but steadily. It was as if they did that before.
When they were flying steadily in the sky, I finally relaxed a little bit. The wind hitting my face was so pleasurable. I missed this feeling.
"I made them practice all week. I was the one sitting on the chair and if they made me fall, they had to do one hundred push-ups and one hundred squats before running five kilometres,” Sebastian explained proudly before getting down to his position.
At least, if I fall, I won't have to worry that I won’t be caught. I knew I could trust Sebastian with my life.
Our travel took a little over two hours since we had to stop a few times to take a break. Fortunately, for me, I didn’t fall even once. Thank God for that. Even if their personality sucks, they carried me very carefully while being effective.
As soon as we landed, I jumped off the chair before running to the King’s house. The Prince must be expecting us by now. I only had my mate in mind, and I needed to see him. Even if I barged into the dungeon, there were even fewer chances that they would allow me to see him. So, I barged into the royal house and was as soon stopped by one of the elites.
“Identify yourself and what is your purpose here?” the man in armour scrutinized me while blocking my way with his massive body.
“I’m Keith Vanburen, and I want to see my mate named Ryan,” I confidently answered without feeling intimidated.
“No one is allowed to see the prisoner. Where is your appointment?” He retorted with a tone that dared me to defy him.
Before I could find an answer, someone behind me talked first. “Let him pass,” the voice ordered as I turned around to see who it was. “Keith, I’m overjoyed to see you well and back to our home. Though, I would have preferred to meet you in other circumstances.”
“My prince, where is my mate? Is he alright? Why did you capture him?” I asked worriedly.
“Calm down, Keith. Come with me. That man is currently talking with the King,” the Prince explained as he put his hand behind my back to guide me to our destination.
We silently walked to the King’s office. Before entering, the Prince knocked twice. After a few seconds, the door opened and revealed a room filled with strangers and a few familiar faces. What shocked me first was the fact that there were a group of Ignis people in the King’s office! And one of them is Ryan.
I could only see his back, but I could recognize him from any angle. Without waiting or asking for permission, I ran toward him and called his name. When he heard me, he turned around just in time before I jumped into his arms.
“I missed you,” I mumbled into his chest. “Please don’t leave me ever again,” I sobbed relievedly that I was finally in his arms. I only hoped that it wasn’t a dream.
“I missed you too, my angel. I’m sorry for what happened, but I promise that you’ll never be left behind ever again. I’ll never leave you even if you want me to,” he confessed while leaving small kisses all over my head.
“I’m afraid that won’t be possible. Keith, get away from that man now,” the King ordered from behind his imposing wooden desk.
