To be 100% honest, dating apps are a very visual medium, and I don't care for them much. I've made some very real connections on the internet, but never through an app or messageboard. Mostly by involving myself in online communities with people of similar interests. (Hey... look... Tapas...!) and meet folks that way. Maybe see if your favorite artists/authors have a Discord server for fans! Friends don't need to be geographically close to be emotionally close.
