"What are you doing here?" I furrowed my brows and made sure the door was only open enough to show my face.
"Something happened. I just want to make sure you were okay." Asher took a step forward and then hesitated.
I frowned. Could he sense what happened between me and Theo? Why would he care to come here anyways?
"I'm fine." I said shortly. He was the reason my mood was sour in the first place. And if he saw Theo, things could get even worse. "Thanks for the concern, but you didn't have come here."
I tried to shut the door on him, but he grabbed it and forced it to stay open. Once he realized what he had done he took a step back and rubbed the back of his neck. It was painfully obvious he was struggling to contain his Alpha side.
"Sorry, I just- uh,"
I sighed. He was trying to be good for my sake.
"You're bleeding," I noted looking at his hand.
"Most of it, isn't mine," He frowned and followed my gaze. "Which reminds me, I have to make a phone call, before something worse happens."
"You know, you act all cool and suave, but you're actually really weird." I scrutinized.
"Thanks, it's part of the job description, for us psychopaths," His blue eyes pierced mine and my body felt warm, like a campfire on a cold night.
If he wanted an apology for what I said, he wasn't going to get it.
I hummed, "I must have missed that."
"Really?" He arched a brow. "It was bolded and underlined."
"Oh right, just under, tendencies of being a huge tool and completely full of themselves." I grinned and he mirrored my expression.
Wait, were we flirting?
"Jeez!" Theo's voice bellowed from inside the house. "Look whatever you're selling we don't want-"
"Theo, wait!" I tried to cut him off, but he pulled the door open and stiffened behind me.
"Oh, it's you," Theo tightened his grip on the door. "What's up?"
No one had to tell me I was blushing for me to know or feel it. Asher could see we were both shirtless. He could see the love bites Theo left on my skin and it caused his fists to clench.
I felt my heart drop to my stomach as his expression turned cool and stoic.
"Just making a house call," Asher said locking eyes with Theo.
"I'm surprised you remembered where it was," Theo challenged.
I glared up at him. He was treading on dangerous ground.
"Liked I'd forget," Asher said looking down at me. His expression softened for only a second, but I caught it, and it left me rattled.
"So, you just chose never to show up, is that it?" Theo bit back.
Theo's words hit nerve and I took a step away from him.
"I don't know what the hell this back and forth is," I gestured to the two of them. "But I can fight my own battles and frankly you both are acting dumb."
"I should go," Asher said placing a hand in his pocket and turning back to his car.
"Probably," Theo said with a fake smile.
"Knock it off, or you'll go too," I growled.
Theo threw his hands up and rolled his eyes. I wanted to punch him again. He never took me seriously.
"Uh, Asher," I said from the doorway.
He turned to face me, but it was hard to see his expression with the setting sun glowing against him.
"Thanks," I bit my lip unsure of why I stopped him in the first place.
"Good night, Jonah," He nodded and hopped his car.
