Blaire slipped into the school house twenty minutes into class. She timed it so the teacher was writing on the blackboard to sneak in. The only empty desk was at the back beside none other than Edmund. She didn’t look at him as she sat down beside him. The desk were in rows of four. they were made to each fit two students.
Edmund raised his eyebrows but didn’t turn his head. He kept looking at her from the side, straining his eyes. Blaire keep her head down and stared down at her blank notebook. The teacher didn’t notice that Blaire had come in.
Once the work period begun Edmund took it upon himself to find out what had happened on the field. Other kids sent looks of sympathy to him. Edmund turned his head to look at Blaire and opened his mouth.
“Save it, i don’t wanna talk” She said, still not looking up. She was still pale, probably still shaken up from what happened.
“Ok, then I will. You can listen if you like” Edmund said, surprising himself a little.
Blaire looked at him through her hair. Her eyes seemed a little lighter.
“Ok.” She whispered, brushing her bangs a little out of her eyes.
“That was kinda cool what happened. I’m sure it’s not witchcraft so you don’t have to worry about any of us will report you” he said, laughing to himself. “Do you know what happened? Was it from a book you read? You know what, don’t answer, I don’t mind. How many books you got in your bag?”
Blaire straightened up a little, her natural glare returning.
“How did you say all that without taking a breath?”She asked then quickly looked down again. Edmund shrugged, a smile spreading on his face.
“Listen I’m sorry about what happened. I was in the wrong. Wanna come over after school? You can borrow some books I have or I can give you some cookies me and my mother made” Edmund said. Blaire thought about it before nodding slightly.
“Sure” She whispered, starting her work.
