Lexy had just gotten out of the car with Christine. Lexy looked at her, and she was so excited. But Lexy just couldn’t shake the bad feeling that she had about this. till she tried to put on a good face and have fun.
“Hello, Earth to Lexy, are you there, Purple Witch?” Christine whispered in Lexy’s ear.
“What?? Yeah. I’m listening,” Lexy said, shaking herself out of the daze that she had sent herself into on the entire car ride to the mall.
“Yes,” Madam Vile said, “you never seem to shut up, so why did you start now?”
“What?” Lexy asked.
“Nevermind,” Madam Vile said out loud, but under her breath, she said, “You brat.”
It was two hours later and Lexy looked like she was going to literally drop dead. Lexy noticed that Christine looked the same way she felt.
“You OK?” Lexy asked.
“Not really,” Christine replied. “I don’t understand how we can be so exhausted and not have bought barely anything.”
Lexy looked at the bags and realized Christine was right. All they had between them was a couple of pairs of earrings, two shirts, and a pair of pants.
“That’s it!” Lexy exclaimed.
“What’s it?” Christine said, looking startled.
“That’s all we have, is what I meant. I didn’t mean to scare you.”
“It’s fine. You just startled me. Aren’t we supposed to meet up with Madam Vile and Raven about now?” Christine said looking at her watch.
“Yeah, your right,” Lexy said looking around. “Oh, there they are.” Lexy was looking across the plaza.
“Are you disappointed?” Christine asked.
“Definitely. I thought that maybe I would be able to get away with being alone with my friend more.”
“Well, you know we shouldn’t have ditched them, right?”
“I know, but it was so much fun to just hang out with you.”
“I agree, but look at Madam Vile. he is fuming.”
“I wonder why,” Lexy said sarcastically.
“There you are you little maggots,” Madam Vile said, having finally found out where Lexy and Christine were.
Once Madam Vile was done chewing them out, she sneered, “Are you ready for your sleepover?”
“Of course,” Christine replied, oblivious to the sarcasticness in her voice. Madam Vile was glaring at Christine.
“OK. Let's go home, so we can sleep, ” Lexy said getting between the two of them.
“Who died and put you in charge?” Raven asked viciously.
Lexy walked up and looked straight into her eyes. “You know who died, and I’m in charge because the two of them,” Lexy said gesturing to Christine and Madam Vile, “are planning on killing each other. And you don’t seem to be doing anything.”
Just as Raven was about to make a nasty retort, when Madam Vile said, “She’s right (for once). We need to get going so we can,” Madam Vile shuddered, “order pizza.”
