Lexy was surrounded by nice gold light. It was soft and comforting. It surrounded her like a nice blanket on a cold day. Lexy slowly looked around. All she could see was the light surrounding, enfolding her.
“What is this?” Lexy said softly into the light.
A soft comforting voice called out through the light, “This is your power. This is your safe place. This is in your mind.”
Lexy looked around and tried to locate the voice.
“Don’t try to see me. You will not find me.”
“OK,” Lexy sighed. “Why am I here?”
“Why do you think you’re here?” The voice seemed to be getting closer.
“I honestly don’t know why I’m here.” Lexy looked around sadly. “Though it looks like I was wrong, I am alone.”
The voice took on a harsh tone, “You are not alone. Don’t ever say that.” The voice got gentler. “I’m here with you, after all.”
“But you’re not here!” Lexy screamed into the comforting void.
“Fine!” The voice shouted back.
In front of Lexy, a small pinprick of light got brighter than the light surrounding it.
“What are you?” Lexy asked in awe.
“You know what?” The voice said in a sassy tone. “I’m going to stop trying to please you. I’m a fairy by the way.” The pinprick seemed to turn towards Lexy.
“Can you get any bigger?” Lexy asked. “You are kinda really, really small.”
The pinprick let out an exasperated sigh, “Fine.”
The pinprick of light grew until it wasn’t a pinprick any more. It was a small person with clear wings and a light blue dress hovering in front of Lexy’s face.
Lexy jumped back and gasped in shock. Then her gaze turned angry. “Did you have to do that right in my face?” Lexy shouted.
“Sheesh,” the fairy said. “I’m your power and subconscious. I apparently forgot how spunky you are.” It hovered away from Lexy’s face but kept eye level with her. “And,” she said, looking Lexy over. “How annoying.”
“Hey!” Lexy said, offended.
“Oh, shush,” The fairy said.
Lexy tried to respond but found she could not open her mouth.
“Mmmmm,” Lexy mumbled angrily.
“Oops. Sorry,” the fairy apologized. Lexy’s lips snapped open, and Lexy pulled in huge breaths.
“That was not very nice,” Lexy said, once she got her breath back.
“I said I was sorry!” the fairy exclaimed. She squirmed.
Lexy laughed, “I was just messing with you. By the way,” Lexy said pondering, “why am I here?”
The fairy looked relieved to have something to talk about. “Oh. Isn’t it obvious?” she asked. “I’m here to tell you, that you are never alone.”
