This city was far from innocent even before the new time had been awakened. Today the new school semester came to a start. And as I arrived at the school building I could see James and August speaking. Every day, they have done the same routine of waiting for my arrival at this very spot. James is the kid of Sheriff Walker and August is the kid of Doctor Kanner. I myself am the kid of Mr & Mrs Crowley. The richest family in town. Of course, my parents abandoned me in this town and like that was not enough. They had abandoned me with Niel. Niel is someone that can not be trusted. He might be my cousin, but that man knows nothing about people or loyalty. He walks around with his silly smirks and grins hoping to get someone's attention. This morning he asked if I wanted a ride to school with him like he never knew that I despise him. As I walked while being in my thoughts I suddenly bumped into someone and gained my senses back. A new face was shown before me. The loveliest face I have ever seen smiled at me, despite me crashing into her. "I apologise," those were the words I let out with a stiff face and she stared at me in shock, but I ran away realising I had made a mistake.
"You are late," a sentence I have been repeating for a month now and I always got a wide smile back and a co-worker that ignore that sentence time after time. I let out a sigh and gave him a faint smile. The town has always been silent so our job is quite pointless at this point. Things always happening, but we have no way to prove these activities and that makes us stuck with pity robberies and worried mothers. We have gathered up in two-man teams for the work in the evening. Now is the time when we have our town festival where we celebrate something that happened some decades ago. This time of the year is a pain in the neck. Later in the evening before my shift at the festival started did my boy drop in for his daily check-in. He looks like a troubled kid, but he is great and helpful. He has never broken our deal about the daily check-ins at the station. Since he knows I am busy at the station he would always make sure I know he is safe, especially when he knows how his mother died. "Drew, I'm going to the festival with Gus and Bran now. I probably see you there later. Take care tonight, yeah?" He said this casually, but with a slightly worried facial expression. "You know I will," I assured him with a gentle expression and saw him leave the station. After he left, Blakely would grin. "What is it?" I asked feeling triggered by his never-ending smiles. "I always notice your gentle side when your kid comes over. Josh would never come over to see me," He was admiring the bond between me and James. "Well, the stands are different between our families. My boy would probably be the same if Tammy was still with us. Let's leave now," I said with a relaxed expression while the memories pained my insides.
The sound of a honk startled me and I looked behind me to see a white shining car standing behind me and I ran over to see Jenna inside. She had this don't-bother-me vibe around her. She seemed to be untouchable to any harm. "Bella, can you get in today?" Jenna got impatient as I just stood there, but I hurried to get in before she would drag me inside. She gazed at me that was looking down wearing a slight frown. "Bad first day, dear?" She casually let out and I nodded before I looked up at her. "Jenna, I met a boy." My words gained her attention and she smirked. "A boy, you say? Who was it?" Jenna was genuinely curious, but of course, I had to disappoint her since I really have no idea who he was. "I am not sure. I was going to introduce myself but he just apologised and left." my words made Jenna raise her eyebrow. "Maybe he got a boner." She mumbled and I got flushed. "Wh...what?" I shuddered and she just laughed and stopped at the beach where we would celebrate the festival with Jenna's friends. Her friends contained guys mostly and she seemed very close to most of them. "Josh!" Jenna waved and dropped her high heels on the sand before they both ran towards each other and he carried her into her arms as they held each other. I thought they were a couple, but I must have been wrong because when I walked closer and they were holding each other, another guy came up to them. "Ey, how dare you greet this wimp first?" He looked mad and Jenna went down from the guy named Josh. "Hello, Kevin." He smiled widely and she smiled back at him before he went in for a kiss and she quickly responded as his lips met hers and they ended up making out and Josh scratched his nape while looking awkward so I went in to introduce myself. "Hey, I am Bella and I just moved in with Jenna. Nice to meet you." I smiled sweetly and he looked a bit more comfortable at that moment. "I am Josh and this dweeb here is Ryan." He grabbed the guy behind him and rubbed his fist on his head. "Let me go for fuck sake!" The guy named Ryan was struggling to get out of Josh's grip while Josh was laughing. And as the guys were friendly fighting, another girl stepped forward. "I am sorry about them, I am Inrid. It is a pleasure to meet you, Bella. I hope you will enjoy this town and you must be at my younger brother's age. His name is August so let me know if he gives you any problems." Her smile is gentle and warm. The next moment she walked up to hold Jenna by her shoulder. "Jenna, enough now. We are going further down the beach." Jenna smiled and winked at Kevin and we all went down closer to the water where we had a fire as well as alcohol. "Kev, you got some booze to spare?" a new voice came in from behind me and as I looked back I saw three guys. One of the guys was the one from earlier and when he saw me I could see his eyes widen slightly before he quickly looked away. "Walker, should you even drink? What about your father?" Josh seemed concerned. "You him? Just let us join you." He sounded annoyed so I offered the seat next to me. "You can sit here," I told him nervously and he smiled slightly. "She gets it," He let out and took the seat gladly.
I stood in the background most of the time so no one really noticed me at events or anywhere when I think about it, but that guy always noticed me like he had a warning radar for when I was around. Brandon tried to convince his friend James that they should leave just after he gazed at me. "He got to be kidding." I almost whispered as I was starting to get really pissed at my little cousin. I never understood why he hates me so much. For no reason, he looked down on me. Ever since I arrived in town to look after him. When I offer him a ride he would coldly tell me that he has his own driver. As much as I wanted to grab him I knew he would make trouble for me if I did. At that moment I saw the new girl and walked up to her. I took her hand and kissed it gently. "Pleasure to meet you, fair maiden." As she finally took her eyes off my cousin I could see her blushing. "Nice to m...meet you too, noble knight." The way she played along was interesting so I couldn't help but smile and plant a kiss against her forehead before standing up and gave away a smirk to my cousin that seems to have taken an interest in the fair maiden as well. I gazed at Jenna that had both Josh and Kevin all over her. "Should we bet that they going to have a threesome later?" I asked randomly to Ryan for no particular reason. "I bet 50 bucks against," Ryan replied as he moved his gaze to the three. "You are on."
The festival was in full speed at this hour and it makes me so excited being here. Too bad I am here for work and with the most anti-festival type. My partner must be the only one in town that hates the festivals. He is impossible. "Should we just take in the potheads and leave for today?" Walker asked me being as serious as always. "I got a better idea. We join the festival for a while then go back to work." It was worth a try, but if I know him right he would never agree to it so easily. "Well, if we take in the potheads first then I will go to the festival with you for a while." He replied and I think my ears are broken. Did he just agree to join the festival? I smiled with excitement and ran towards the junky area at once. I gathered all the junkies quickly and gave them up to the van team and put my arm around Walker and laughed. "So excited to have you here on the bright side, pal." But Walker was not amused by my enthusiasm and just pushed me away from him. "I give you fifteen minutes to impress me." and as he said that we witnessed a rain of falling stars and suddenly everything went black for me and I heard a whisper in my ear. "Guess who, handsome."
A miracle has happened before my eyes. On the television, they reporting a meteor shower, but it is something else. If you look with a telescope you can clearly see that it is not meteors, but ice. "Can you see it, Anton? Things going to get interesting when they find out that someone might be crushed by a huge clump of ice." I said with an intrigued smile as I looked at my loyal companion, a lovely Trimeresurus insularis or the so-called white-lipped island pit viper. He replied to me in his own special way. "Time for work, Anton." I put my coat on and went out to the festival.
Sitting on the sand being quite drunk is something I usually avoid, but she looks so beautiful tonight. A floral dress with a wonderful scent of the flowers that is covering parts of her long hair. It was always easier being near her when I am drinking because she is just brilliant and who would even be a good enough match for her? I always overthinking this like a girl. Kevin passed by and I called him over to me. "What happened to Jenna?" I asked feeling so relaxed from the alcohol that is in my system. He looked back at Jenna and Josh then back at me "I am having a break, bro." he replied and grabbed my drink that he then chugged. "You know what, Ry?" He seemed much more confident suddenly and gave away a grin. "Jenna is coming with me. Watch and learn." He left with a grin on his face and grabbed Jenna by the wrist while she was in Josh's lap. I could see Kevin's lips moving and Jenna smiled at him. "That son of a bitch." I bust out with a low tone as I laughed soundlessly. At that moment I got inspired and rose up from the sand and brushed it off my pants before I approached her. I was welcomed with a wide smile "Hello, Ryan. How are you feeling? It seems you had quite a lot to drink." Inrid then said as she observed my behaviour. "Dear, let's dance and not think worrisome thoughts. It is a celebration after all!" I started out with a low seductive tone and ended with a high yell and everyone was cheering for the festival. Inrid smiled softly. She was always like that. I believe she thinks that I am acting like an idiot, but if that is the case then I will just blame the alcohol tomorrow. "Okay," she said suddenly, but I was in my head so I could not hear what she said "What?" I almost yelled and she busts out in laughter before she took my hands and moved closer to me and at that moment I thought that I had fallen asleep and started dreaming. We danced closely and slowly with our skin touching each other because of the lack of clothes since we are wearing our beachwear. The bonfire was in flames and the flames were going wild and then a big splash was heard and after that, a wave of water followed. The moment was ruined and everyone ran to the water to see a clump of ice. Inrid's little brother August was as crazy as his mother and investigated it. "Something is in here." I heard him say with a low voice since I and Inrid was a bit away from the ice object. Then everyone that was close to the ice-object suddenly backed away being freaked out. "It is fucking moving!" some random guy shouted and August just stood frozen by that thing.
"We are here to report a meteor shower here at our annual festival. Everyone is grieving after a number of 16 deaths and 8 badly injured victims of the meteors." Meteors have been falling on several locations in the city and it made Daniel busy when we should be looking for our Josh. "Sheriff Walker, what are you doing to reassure people's safety? So many people become victims of this meteor shower." The reporter was now bothering Andrew. That poor guy is greaving already on this day because of his passed wife. "It is not meteors!" Doctor Kanner bust out as she entered the scene and approached the meteor. She looked at it closely as if she was amazed, but the reporter was quick to ruin her moment "Dr, Kanner, what is this if not a meteor? It came from the sky, miss." The reporter was curious about Kanner's theory, but she just grinned at him then moved closer to the reporter. "Do you think you can comprehend this information that I bare?" Kanner seemed to be playing with the man now and moved her hand over his chest slowly making him distracted from his purpose. Kanner then lets out a soft laugh before pushing him away slightly. "Attention everyone, I will only tell you this once and after you have got this information then you should all find your family members. We never know what can happen now." she gathered everyone's attention before walking to the meteor. Her hand was placed on it as she started speaking. "This so-called meteor is actually an ice egg. There is a creature inside." That was the only thing she said before checking her phone and walked away. That was the cue for me to grab my husband from the crowd and find our son. When we were on our way to find Josh then Andrew's boy showed up. "Dan, Rina, J is down on the beach," he informed us before entering the crowd to where his father was. "Sometimes I envy Andrew for having such a caring son. Do you know that he comes to the station every day after school?" Daniel said as he was admiring James, but I am too worried about Josh to care at the moment "Come now, honey. You can admire James another time." We both rushed to the beach and I held Josh tightly after I took a look at him "You are safe. Oh my, I am so relieved." Josh caressed my back to reassure me that he was okay. "Mother, you don't have to worry. Everyone here is safe." I looked around and saw Dr, Kanner with her two children. I guess this is where she went after leaving so quickly. Dr, Kanner waved at us discreetly and her children did the same to Josh. "We will go now. Your father said that we have to go to the station."
People started to leave or getting picked up by their parents, but I and Bella just stood on the spot as Kevin told us to wait for him while he is figuring out what the fuck is actually happening here tonight. He came back and carried me in his arms as he looked into my eyes deeply "Babe, things will be okay." he reassured me gently and put his forehead against mine. "I will take you and Bella home. I know you two must be shaken up, but Jenna, I am always here for you. Never forget that." Kevin had his serious, but yet romantic moment and I was touched.
