All the ones thrown under the spotlight
All the ones facing the world
a trillion eyes
and all she could do was smile
All she could do was sing-
sing until her voice cracks
write until all the standards lower
a drop of sweat
a beat of a drum,
what was once a dream turns into a nightmare
what was once a thrill becomes a scare
she learns to sniff a bit of snow
she learns to give up parts of herself-
like an auction.
First goes her voice,
then her mouth,
her eyes,
and her ears.
Sold.
They don't belong to her yet she can see right through her eyes.
Sing through her mouth,
and hear through her ears.
Displayed like a statue,
she cant escape it.
There is no going back,
there is no escaping their eyes.
