a caged bird.

A spirit stripped of its mind

trapped-cursed-

fighting for a glimpse of sunlight-

fighting for the world outside. 

Chained--reprimanded--she walks into the sunlight. 

the chain clinks when her feet make out five steps-too far

her eyes can see the distant mountains, the distant skies-

what did she fight so hard for

There's no difference from the inside and out

while she loses everyone else she manages to find herself

every choice has a sacrifice 

every move is a loss

yet she won't look back,

no matter the cracks in her soul

or the knives in her heart,

she'll never stop.
