That place really exists and I wish I could upload a picture. It's deep in the caracteristic 90 degree "Bend" that the Petitcodiac river (the chocolate river!) takes in downtown Moncton.
The park where Sooky is in Tidal Bore park, in downtown. Just across the river from the park there is that tiny little shelter with a picnic table. That's where Frisettes and Taco are and far away, at the back, there is the water treatment plant.
I have been there. Doesn't smell any worse than any other marsh. I've seen marinas that reek of spilled fuel!
