After he had left the scene, while he made his way back towards his steed, Vayne covered his lips with a hand. He had no one to hide from yet it felt natural to hide such a wide grin. How he had been waiting for a chance to do such a thing. Stealing a moment from the cool lips of the man he felt strongly for. How many times he had seen Ryu do the same while he wished it was himself? It was exactly as he figured it would go. He wouldn’t wish their first kiss to go any different.
Once finished mulling over that thought, Vayne mounted his horse and made his way back. Given that the rain hadn’t let up, it was going to be very difficult to make it back unseen. No matter how hard he would try, he’d leave a trail behind himself no matter what. But boy would he still try. Once the horse was stealthily put away, the prince made his way over towards the servants entrance and crept into the kitchen.
Crept probably wasn’t the right word. He attempted, but with his poor timing skills, a moderate bunch of maids and the like were hanging around and caught him red handed. Eyes darting between them all, Vayne chuckled nervously and scratched at his cheek. “How about we don’t tell anyone?” A gentle murmur floated through the group before each nodded. Sure they were loyal to their king, but this didn’t mean they felt no remorse for their crown prince.
Besides. Even if no one told on him, chances were he’d be found out right away.
Tip toeing out the door leading back towards the main hallways, Vayne made it only a few steps before immediately darting back in. “Could I-Oh thank you.” Already prepared, a butler around the same stature handed over a pair of shoes and clothing. It would be highly suspicious if he went anywhere drenched in rain; leaving little puddles behind.
Once changed, Vayne folded his soaked clothes, squeezed as much water out as he could and crumpled them back up to later toss into some corner and take care of another day. It was late and all he could think about was the sweet embrace of his bed. As well as the events of that night. Oh how he was delighted with what little progress he had made. Sure, for the time being he may have instilled thoughts of dislike within the man of his affections, but that was better than before.
Before Yuki barely knew his name.
Now he did, may it be filled with emotions not preferred, it was a start!
He waited so long for this, what was a little longer?
By mid morning the next day, the borrowed clothes were returned to their owner, his own clothes had dried and all evidence of his late night activities had vanished. For the time being he was safe. After returning said borrowed clothes, Vayne made his way into the conference room where he was to meet and discuss plans.
“And so, I was debating on this village to-Ah my son. Come here.” Ren waved, urging his son forward.
“What have I missed?”
“Not much. As I was just beginning to say before you interrupted.” The last word was bit out rather coldly before the king continued. “This little village here settled right on the border. I want it. If we lay claim first, we can use it as a in between as well as a place for resources. I want everyone ready and leaving by dawn tomorrow. Got it?” Ren stared down each of the other men in the room until they gave a salute of acknowledgement and set out to get things ready.
Lastly his gaze fell upon his son. “Vayne. You know what I expect from you. Don’t let me down. If you’re to take after me and become king someday, you need to start acting like one. No mushy crap either. Ryu was able to get away with it, you however, are not. Tomorrow, if anyone acts out. Take. Care. Of. It.”
Unfortunately, Vayne was well aware of what ‘it’ was and what he was expected to do. That didn’t make him feel any better. He could only hope nothing would go wrong while there.
“Yes father.”
Ren’s gaze refused to falter at the way he was called. His eyes urged on for another try.
Vayne let out a slow, shaky breath before trying again.
“Yes, your majesty.”
