The brunette's bedroom was simple with a contemporary style, the colors were mostly yellows and whites, with very little black. Once the blond was tucked under the covers, the man begged the other, "Hurry and wake up soon." After several minutes, the blond finally began to stir some. "Hey, how are you feeling?"
"My head hurts..." The blond groaned as he opened his eyes, "Morning, Will."
"Morning. Want some medicine or something?" Will asked, forcing his voice to be calm.
"Water would be good." the blond answered, rubbing his eyes. "How long have I been out?"
"A couple days," Will said over his shoulder as he left. He came back a moment later with a glass of water, handing it to the other. "Here you go, Mikuni." The blond nodded as he sat up, taking the cup and took a drink. "Remember what happened?" Will asked after a moment.
Mikuni studied the water, thinking hard, trying to remember. "I think I remember being killed. Like... I was pushed in front of a car..." His voice trailed off. Then he looked to Will in shock, "You pushed me!"
Will winced a little, forcing a smile, "Hey we're best friends, Mikuni. Why would I do that to you?"
"You were mad at me for getting that internship we were trying for!" Mikuni shouted, his blue eyes shimmering rage.
"I'm sorry!" Will shouted back, "I didn't mean to kill you! I just wanted to scare you!"
"Scare me?" Mikuni shouted, throwing the cup at Will, who barely dodged it. The glass shattered against the floor, shards and water splattering everywhere like paint. "Well, you freaking accomplished that, bastard!"
"I said I was sorry!" Will shouted back, looking from the broken glass to his friend.
"So what am I now? One of those stupid Dream Machines that you put your memories into?" When no answer came Mikuni got up and punched Will's right cheek. While Will held his face from the impact, Mikuni looked down at his clothes, noticing the crisp white tunic, the evidence of his mechanized body. The rage flamed within him, shouting, "You ass!" Mikuni ran out of the bedroom.
"Mikuni! Wait!" Will shouted, hurrying after him.
Mikuni didn't wait for Will, slamming the apartment door in his face. Then he sprinted down the hall to the stairwell and quickly descended the five flights of stairs right out the building. By the time Will got the door to open he couldn't tell which direction Mikuni had ran in. He sighed, pushing his face into his palm, already regretting his decision.
Mikuni ran his to the nearby local park, running to the section with the metal merry-go-round wheel, the uneven bars, the swings and teeter-totter. He gasped a little for breath, resting on a swing, his mechanized lungs not needing to inhale as much air as a flesh body.
He sighed, whispering to himself, "I guess I should've let Will get that internship. He's been trying for it longer than I have." He looked down at his dirty feet, sighing once more, "Wow, I can feel hold cold my toes are... Does that mean the cold's artificial? Hmm..." Mikuni pondered the cold he was feeling and how little his chest was heaving for several minutes. Finally he concluded, "This must be a new body from the Dream line... It's still in the factory clothes..." He grimaced at the white tunic and long blond hair falling over his shoulders. "Tasteless white! Bleh! If you're gonna bring me back to life, at least give me a body that has my hair color!" He stood up quickly, immediately his knees buckled and he fell forward into the dirt. A soft chuckle came from his throat as he shifted his face up to look along the length of his arm at his hand. "Whoops... Looks like I drained all the energy stores. Damn it." Mikuni closed his eyes in frustration, not realizing he'd given in to the lack of energy and fainted.
