The Lullaby of No Colour (New)

1 - The First of Many (Part Two)

1 - The First of Many (Part Two)

Jun 22, 2019

Yuki -

I sit down awkwardly, trying not to focus on how the girl next to me was glaring. I sigh, the thick syrupy pancakes not resting right in my stomach as I uneasily shift in my seat.

I look both ways before pulling out my MoMo iced tea cup from the side of my bag, not wanting to draw attention to it.

I feel myself slightly relax in response to the caffeine, before turning to the girl next to me, ready to face her.

"Hey, so uhm, I didn't get here on time and was wondering what I missed," I say sweetly, trying to make my smile seem as real as possible, so as to her not get the wrong way.

"Students making fools of themselves in front of the class, some kid waving his hand in front of my face, and a dancing elephant." She responds, and I feel my smile become slightly less fake.

What an interesting girl.

"I see, anything else?" I ask, wondering what she might respond with.

She picks at her unpolished nails before responding, a small smile on her face grew as she says, "No, I'm surprised you kept talking to me though. My sarcasm usually works on driving people away. I'm Naomi though."

"Yuki. A pleasure to meet you, Naomi. Why would you want to drive people away?"

"Well, I can tell people's intentions. You seemed like you wanted to get talking to me out of the way, and to go back to whatever it was you were enjoying." She responds, and I can't help but feel a bit confused.

"What do you mean by that?" I ask, studying her seemingly expressionless face.

"Well, it's just that... Mm, I have a question for you first. Do you know what an egofloise is?"

"Yeah, but I've only read about them. No one is really openly an egofloise. Why?"

"Well, I'm one. I can read a person's emotions and your current state of mind, as well as determine the layout of a room." I study her once more, before finally noticing that her eyes were seeming... looking through me rather than at me.

I mentally facepalm.

"B-because you're... visually impaired?" I look at her smile wide, before laughing quietly.

"Yes, I'm blind. But don't think that doesn't mean I can't tell that you're emotionally conflicted right now. I won't try and dig any deeper into the emotions and try to get specifics though. I'm not that type of person. I like when people confide in me, rather than when I read everything for myself." She giggles once again, before sighing.

"I need to leave class early. I have the band next, want to walk with me?" She asks, and my heart skips slightly when she smiles at me. Well, not at me at me, but still.

"U-ugh, yeah! I have that next too." I hold out my arm for hers to link into, ignoring the teacher who was trying to walk up to us and question us.

"Shall we?" I ask, helping her link onto me as she puts on her small side bag.

She nods eagerly, and for a split second, I feel her arm make contact with my side, the movement leaving an odd tingly warmth there.

I chose to ignore it, blushing slightly as I look down to talk to her, trying not to look down her shirt.

In that moment, I decided to allow myself to really admire her details.

Short curly bubblegum hair, half-up into buns, there rest of her tight natural curls cascading onto her upper back. A creme polka dotted dress graced her curves, and I can't help but blush once more at how amazing this stranger looked. Pale purples eyes turn to 'look' at me, and I clear my throat, realizing we had stopped walking.

"Something wrong?" She asks, her pink pouted lips forming the words that seemed to flow gracefully like the notes of a song.

Oh, fuck me. What the hell was I thinking?

"Yep, great. Everything is so great. I just gotta go the place and do yo- the-the thing! We gotta go do the thing! Oh, fuck." I ramble, and she just smiles before continuing to walk, letting go of my arm to walk slightly ahead of me.

Don't look Yuki.

My eyes shift downward slightly, before I quickly walk up to her, fighting the urge.

This was bad. I just needed to stay distracted.

I need a distraction. Something like-

"Yuki Lotus Kim, you slut!" A shrill voice screams and Naomi stops dead in her tracks, confused as hell.

"How fucking dare you steal my boyfriend, then proceed to be with this-this wannabe Lolita whore!" The voice continues, and my eyes adjust to see her.

Will's girlfriend, Monique.

Make that a double fuck me, please.

"What the hell do you want, Monique," I grumble, stepping in front of Naomi protectively as my eyes shift over her, trying to figure her out.

I can feel myself getting slightly angry, not wanting to deal with her bullshit right now.

"Naomi, can you do me a favour and just stay right behind me?" I ask her sweetly, trying to control my voice from shaking as I assess the situation.

Monique was headed towards me, angry as hell. Naomi was behind me, and I wasn't wearing anything to assist me in the fight.

Heels, crop top, tight jeans, and a heavy backpack.

Dammit Yuki, dress for the right situation!

The route to approach? Diplomatic.

"Monique, I don't know what happened between you and Will, but maybe if we could just talk it through..."

A loud slap echoes through the hallway, and I look around in confusion as I try to figure out why I wasn't in pain.

Naomi.

"Ouchies... that hurt." She whimpers, and I see Monique had stepped to the side, smacking Naomi squarely on the cheek, her eyes watering slightly.

Fuck the diplomatic approach.
