The Lullaby of No Colour (New)

Lore Break - Markings

Lore Break - Markings

Jun 23, 2019

File #666 -

Markings.

Pronounced- okay, don't be stupid.

Other Terms Including: Marked, Markers, and Marks

Origin: Origin is unknown, but the practice has been around since early civilization.

Physical: A random mark developed by birth, which begins to glow once the matching mark is found and the deal is completed.

Other information:

Although many do not bother to look, there are customary coming of age ceremonies many still practice in order to find the person who matches their mark. A mark is just like a fingerprint, except there are two in the world instead of one. Colour and shape variations help with the individuality of the couple. Sex and/or gender identification does not interfere with this, as many same-sex relationships are developed through marks and have become more common due to overpopulation.

A match is sealed through sexual intercourse, in which the mark will begin glowing and become significantly more distinct. Once you have accomplished this, your feelings become intertwined together no matter how far apart you are. Although unsure why and how this happens, many theorize that this is to help be more in tune with your match, in order to ensure longer healthy relationships.

Some abnormalities can come into play here, however. Although rare, at times there can be three or four with the same mark, instead of just the standard two. Some are even born without a mark, or without a match for the mark they are given.

Naomi Reynolds, a girl tired of being alone, decides to finally go to high school. Her brother and mother warn her of how they might treat her, but of course, she ignores them. I mean, what's wrong with being just a bit different? She's all ready, eager and innocent. Prepared to learn about how the world really is. But... things aren't always that easy.

Bullied, alone. Boys stealing her stuff, calling her from different points of the room in a horrid manner, confusing her. Girls tearing at her hair, hitting her whenever she turned her back. Nowhere was safe. She refuses to leave, but how much more can she take? How long until she herself breaks in this hell of a world? Where not even the teachers care to help her, to protect her? Where music is the only way for her to escape this hell?

Only one thing is truly on her mind now, "If I could see... would they still be this way?"

-------------

Yuki Kim, a girl who's been bullied, hurt and taken advantage of. A girl who hides her scars and secrets from her dysfunctional family, that just wants to fit in. That is tired of being left out. That never knew what true love was.

Until she met Naomi. Now she must decide if she wants to save Naomi from a worse off fate by fighting her own past or leave Naomi to do what she has always done. Cower. Hurt. Fear.
