On the term Scavenger/Scav: I initially wanted to go with “Stalker” (used in one of my biggest literary inspirations, “A Roadside Picnic”) …but copyright! Stalkers would venture out into an irradiated zone in search of “junk” (alien junk, but junk regardless). There are so many ways (out of recognizable franchises) to say the same thing; therefore, I opted for something I hadn't heard as often.
Margot lives a quiet life in a forbidden radioactive zone alongside her mutant cat, Simon. One day, she takes in an injured Scavenger named Punch and things start to get somewhat less quiet (but only somewhat).
