Hang on, he thought within his lucid state. I think that's enough sleep for now. I'll rest when I get home.
With a twitch of his eyes, Audiney dragged himself out of the Dreamworld and back into reality, opening his eyes. He shifted his body slightly. There was no sound. He expected to hear the crunching of the paper towel underneath him. The doctors must have taken it off somehow.
He went to sit himself up, and hit something solid against his forehead, forcing him back down onto his back. He caressed his head, and glanced up. A black ceiling. He looked around him. Was he inside a coffin? There were tiny purple lights lining the rims of the case he laid in that lit up a dark mattress. Coffins do not have lights inside unless someone wanted to perish with class, or at least he knew they do not anyway. Things were getting peculiar. He slowly realised they do not have places like these in the clinic. Did he die in his sleep? Is he about to get cremated?
Audiney pressed his hands at the ceiling of the enclosure and applied pressure on it, hoping to move it. It seemed to be sealed shut from the outside, and it seemed like escaping was going to be impractical, but maybe someone could hear him from the outside. He noticed a small hole in the blackness, and leaned upward to gaze though it, winking his eye to adjust his vision. After a small blur, he was looking at fans swirling from above, mazes of pipes twisting and turning to and fro and duct accumulating upon the grey cement that lines the walls. This did not look like a crematorium to Audiney as he laid himself back down on the mattress.
Where am I?
