Audiney looked up and frowned at her. "You shouldn't have," he asserted. "I was fine back in the doctor's office, and then without warning I'm hurled into this place. Now I'm being told that I'm a subject to several scientists who want to experiment on me?"
He clutched his chest.
"I hate surprises. I am diagnosed with anxiety, and I can't take another change in events if things are going to be this way."
"I understand," Nurse Bell responded. "You're very scared, and you want to go home. There have been thousands of subjects who have begged to go home, and sometimes even lashed out, but I can assure you that rebelling will not help you. If you simply do as you are told, and participate in every experiment, then you will be able to go home. We have been doing this for much longer than you think."
Audiney groaned under his breath.
"I promise. Once we are done, I will let you go. We just want to help you."
He looked up. "How can I trust you?"
"That's for you to determine."
"And you promise I'll be let go?"
"Correct."
"... Do you happen to know someone named Budge Keneton?"
