I drew this in my first year of my Ph.D. program.
Disclaimer: Of course a grad program can't compare to actual war...
This metaphor was created when during the first year more and more people: dropped out, quit, whet to other programs, got jobs, basically did everything to leave.
Daydreaming I imagined everyone who left as someone who died / was killed since we never heard from them again...
