Callum was staring at his thirteen-year-old sister with amusement. She was having a little tantrum because she wasn't able to open her bag of crisps, while he himself was already munching down on his own.
"Ayla, stop that attitude. You're thirteen." Their mother told her with a bit of annoyance seeping through. "You're too old not to control your emotions."
Callum awkwardly bit his lip. While he was slowly stsrting to accept Ayla was a slow learner, their mother still had hopes that Ayla would catch up with the level of emotions that belonged to a thirteen year old.
Ayla wasn't going to catch up. She didnt even understand the basic levels of emotion that kids at the age of eight should understand.
Ayla was going to be part of the people that would never fully be able to control their feelings.
She was going to be sent of to a boarding school at age 14 if she would still show signs of uncontrolled emotions by then.
A school that was a last hope to teach her everything about emotions, and hopefully help her develop enough to live a happy life.
A school that was solely for the rich people in life; like their parents.
Callum, on the other hand, was a quick learner. Which was another reason their mother still had hope for Ayla.
Callum, their older brother Freddy and both their parents had been quick to learn all emotions. Callum had finished his primary education of emotions by the time he got 16, two years prior to adulthood. He was considered a talent, and with that, he was send of to a new school. One that would help him learn ways to share his knowledge.
Callum was going to teach primary education as soon as he finished his secondary education as a teacher.
Freddy was already teaching, and he was tutoring Ayla about three times a week, to no avail.
Their parents were part of the schoolboard.
Ayla, however, would never follow in their footsteps. Ayla, if lucky, would be an avid member of society.
And while Freddy was following tertiary studies to expand his knowledge and possibly start teaching at a boarding school for the hopeless, Callum had a whole different motivation to learn as much as possible about teaching emotions.
Callum's reason to start his study early, was because of Elliot Ainsley. Elliot was like Ayla, but without the luck of rich parents who could send him to a boarding school.
Elliot wasn't going to get the needed help to catch up with his emotion control.
Elliot was already an outcast, and nobody gave him any help because he was an outcast.
Nobody, except Callum.
Because Callum couldn't help but feel enchanted by the other boy. He desperately wanted to help him. If he wouldn't, they could never be together.
And that thought made his hut wrench.
So, Callum did everything in his power to help Elliot, even if others had already given up on him.
