“Where can I exchange my money?” I asked.
“On the 5th floor.” Mia replied, “Now, let me show you to your desk, please follow me.” She head towards the left side glass door, But I turned my head to check the right side door, it seems like it’s the office of a higher ups, supervisor or maybe the head of this department? Because it’s not a visible room.
My bare feet are screaming cold to me, every step I took were just like I’m walking on the ice. My feet might bleed if I have to walk on this floor in a few days. Did they especially put air con on the floor? Otherwise I have no idea how did the floor get so cold. The air temperature here also pretty low, I suppose its like the start of spring? The chill is still there though its not deadly cold.
“There is no dorm for me?” I try to reconfirm my hearing.
Both of them smiles and replied ‘no’ to me at the same time, its frustrating, I groaned and followed Mia.
The automatic class door opens up as Mia place her hand on the door, I guess its true that every corner of the wall here have fingerprint sensor.
Mia’s pace are not hard to follow, the path are also very spacious, the left side are quite a sight, the crystal clear wall shows the view from 7th floor to the bottom of this place, the stain glass glows beautifully. I admire the designer, its very artistic! We moved a bit to the middle as we passed through the stairs, the stairs elegantly following the shape of the building so we can enjoy the view of the hall while descending the staircase, another thumbs up for the designer.
“From now on, you have to use the stairs, because the lift is limited access, if you want to use it, you have to buy the lift card.” Mia kindly let me know I need to jump up and down with these staircases from now on. I guess I can take my time to admire it later.
On the contrary of the beautiful scenery on the left, the right side are just computers, there are only two desks on each row, the desk are pretty long but circling the chair. That’s another great design, the space between the desks are wide enough. The lightning is bright but not blinding, it’s a comfortable place to work at. I have nothing to complain except the amount of hidden camera here are annoyingly lots.
The people who are working turns their head to me as I walked pass them, most of them are women, since the table are pretty exclusive and spacious, there are probably about 30 people who are working on this floor.
After we reached the other side of the floor, Mia polite gesture showing me the desk on the right is mine. Its almost reached the end of the line, only two rows after mine and they are empty seats, the end of the road is blocked I suppose its connected to the entrance from the right side. That must be the floor supervisor room.
Mia saw my gaze was on the blurred room, so she takes an initiative to explain to me,
“That’s Mr. Alehandro’s office. He is master of the 7th floor. He is very strict but also kind.”
“I see.” I replied hesitantly, I doubt anyone would be ‘kind’ in this underground world.
“You can come back for working tomorrow, don’t be late, there is always a punishment for a lazy worker.” Mia gives me a devilish smile.
I raised my eyebrow and nodded, “Any free water here?” I asked. Water might be essential for my survival if food and everything else is going to be expensive.
“There is, in the bathroom though, drink at your own risk.”
I guess not even water is free, this sure is hell in disguise, I sighed, “Thanks Miss Mia.”
“You’re welcome, feel free to ask if there is anything else you need to know.”
“…….I…” I don’t know if it’s okay to ask about this, but it’s the only reason I came here, so I need to know, “Is there any way I can meet Mr. Carl?” I lower my volume and it sounds like I’m whispering to her.
But since the floor is a quiet one, I could feel the people around us are very interested with my question, some even glares at me.
Mia also looked shocked with my question; I guess I really shouldn’t have asked.
“You mean Mr. Raiver?” She asked me back,
“Yes, Mr. Raiver, can I meet him by any chance?” I repeat my question.
“I don’t think so, Mr. Raiver never really comes here except for urgent business. He is staying on the 10th floor, no one is able to access the lift to the 10th floor except the Great 5.” Mia explained.
“Ah, okay. Thanks for letting me know.” I suppose I couldn’t hide my disappointment, I didn’t think it would be easy to meet him but to think it will be this hard.
