There's an old gospel song I sang in a high school choir. A slow, plodding, desperate song with the repeated line, "Take my mother home." Sometimes I sing this version of it in my head when I need my wife to bail out of something with me.
The odds of anybody reading this and jiving with both the illness part and the song are pretty low, but it'll be gold for that person who does get it, so.... there it is!
