Kibo ran into the room just jumping onto the bed. Bren and I laughed
following her action. It felt nice to be able to lay on a bed again. This place
wasn’t bad at all. I believe in ancient times it would have been considered a
high end hotel. It was amusing to think about what ancient people would
consider residents like this.
“You two get to bathe first.”
Kibo jumped up running to the bathroom shutting the door. I guess we now
knew the order of the baths, I laughed at Brens pouty face.
“She could have at least waited for me.”
He sat down looking out the window there was a car flying by us. This city
was like a dream to him. After everyone bathes they fall asleep on the bed.
Lain had both of the little ones cuddled into her.
In the Elders city there was a meeting. Many people in blood red cloaks with
their faces covered sat at a table. At the head of the table sat one who’s cloak
was pitch black.
“Now what is so important we had to convene all the Elders?”
A cloaked man further away stood up. His voice was low but well heard.
“There has been sightings of more wild in-humans attacking humans
outside of the cities. Let alone the story of a ten foot tall white wolf. How
in the hell are we going to calm the masses at this rate?”
The black cloaked person started to laugh. All the Elders sat there in shock.
“That is your fear. We increase the pheromones over the area’s right
outside the cities. As for that wolf...I’ve killed it before so this time will be
no different.”
All the people went silent. They watched as the black cloaked person stood
up laughing more. They waved their hand leaving the meeting.
The remaining people let out a deep breathe once the black cloak left.
“Are you sure they are even sane still? Seriously no one knows who the
black cloak really is.”
All the people kept speaking to themselves. After a few minutes they left the
room starting back to their own areas. The black cloak walked to a room
where it appeared to have writing all over the floor. Once they stepped onto
it a light shined then they vanished. When they reappeared they had traveled
to a new location.
“Stupid idiots...If I didn’t need them; they would already be dead. Oh how it
has been hundred years since you showed up again. I can’t wait to dissect
you once more my beloved experiment. I will never let anyone un-do what
I have created.”
She walked out of a room into what appeared to be a living area. The woman
removed her cloak just sitting down looking at a table. It appeared to have a
glass to look through at something. She licks her lips leaning down to the
glass.
“Oh my precious wolf you have been reborn. I can’t wait to see what this
one will be like. All the others have been such a disappointment to this
point.”
In the morning Lain left the kids in the hotel room. She found a store that
would sell to in-humans. They sold everything from personal items to
weapons in the shop. Lain stops in front of a rack. It had a flying board on
sale right now. A smile crosses her lips as she grabs it up. Bren would love
this item. Further into the store she found a necklace that worked like a
trans-dimensional storage space. She bought Bren an ear ring that was the
same. For herself she got a ring that was just like their items. The shop
keeper owner seemed to want the day to end. He smiled to Lain as she paid
letting her take a free drink from the cooler. It was a nice reprieve from the
heat in the store. She smiled as leaving just giving a small wave.
Down the road some people were gathered near an apartment building. It
looked like a murder had taken place.
“Great place to avoid...but why do I feel curious?”
I walk down seeing that the police have it roped off. Many people are
covering their mouths from the foul stench of burnt flesh. Who or what did
this wanted to make sure this person never did anything again. Standing
across the crowd from me there was a young man staring at the remains. His
eyes were cold. I could tell he knew this person. That is when I looked up to
see the young man looking straight to me. He smirked raising a finger at me.
He mouthed a few words.
“Don’t get to curious.”
Oh, I was being threatened. I started to laugh which made the people around me get mad. I couldn’t help myself.
The young man seemed a little shocked. He watched as Lain started back to
her hotel. He quickly followed but stopped outside the hotel.
“What the fuck is with that woman. Any other person would have been
scared...she just laughed at me.”
It seemed to annoy him at the thought of Lain’s laughter to his threat. Lain
entered the room to see Bren being pinned by Kibo. She almost fell over
laughing.
“What the hell did I miss here?”
They both looked up smiling to her. Kibo climbed off Bren.
“Well..Kibo wanted to learn how to pin someone twice her size. I think she
has master it.”
Lain walks into the room sitting down laughing some more.
“I think you are right. Kibo looked pretty in control when I walked in the
room.”
Bren looks away blushing with embarrassment.
“I got some things for you both so come here.”
Lain handed out the gifts for them. Kibo and Bren tackle me in a hug. It was
nice they liked their gifts.
I had already used my ring to store all the other stuff that was bought. I lean
back on the bed letting out a sigh.
“I wonder how long that brat is going to stay outside?”
Bren and Kibo look up confused at me.
“Some kid threatened me so I laughed. He then followed me back to the
hotel. When I was shopping a murder happened. Someone was burnt alive.”
Kibo puts her face in front of mine. She looked even more confused.
“Sorry I forgot you don’t know much about people with abilities.”
Bren sat down my feet with the same expression.
“Okay I will explain but get out my face please.”
Kibo climbed down getting into Bren’s lap. They looked so adorable like a big brother and little sister.
“Now to start you know about different races. In all races there are those
others. Usually if they are human they get taken to the Elders main city.
They are trained and used as a defensive force. If you are in-human and
found with those abilities....sadly your killed on the spot.”
I stopped to see their faces. Bren looked horrified at the thought as Kibo
looked indifferent.
“The boy was the one who killed. It seems my laughing might have annoyed
him.”
As Bren went to say something the window shot open. There stood the
young man. He looked about six foot three. He had jade green hair with deep
violet eyes. His pale white skin mingled well with his eyes and hair. The
young man climb down looking straight to Lain.
“Who the hell are you that getting threaten by someone who kills with fire
means nothing to you?”
Everyone could tell his annoyance was starting to turn into anger. I make
Kibo and Bren move away as getting up.
“My name is Lain Mae. A young boy who controls fire doesn’t scare me in
the least.”
My words made him even more mad as flames appeared around me. He
slowly walked towards me with a smirk.
“You will be old woman.”
Wait, did he just call me old. I am only twenty-two years old. I am not that
old. I take a breathe in relaxing my body. Secretly without Bren and Kibo
knowing I’ve been training.
“First off I am not that old. Twenty-two is my age you little asshole. Second
if you want to make me scared it takes more then fire. I’ve already dealt
with much worse then your flames.”
Raising my hand a light showers the flames making them die out. The young
man stands there shocked.
“Wait...your an elemental master?”
I wasn’t sure of that but I know I had unique abilities because of the wolf. The young man stood there silent and I walked over to him.
“Now don’t go burning the room again. I don’t want to pay for damages.
While you are at it tell me why you killed that person.”
He looked away from me as pulling my hand from his shirt.
“Hmph..Why can’t I kill the monster? He took more lives then I have. I was
hired to kill him by a family who lost their child.”
The young man looked to Bren and Kibo then to Lain. He couldn’t figure her
out. He watched as Lain sat back down on the bed. She was wearing a lose
pair of pants with a short sleeve shirt.
“My name is Thaddeus Stone.”
I look up giving a smile.
“That is Kibo and Bren. Now that you are not playing mister flame thrower
Thaddeus how about leaving?”
He walked over sitting down next to me. Giving me a smug smile.
“What if I don’t want to leave Miss Lain?”
Ugh..was I ever going to have a easy time when coming into a city? It felt like
every time something happened. Leaning over I place my hand on
Thaddeus’s shoulder. He flinches a little feeling my claws growing into his
skin.
“I’ve already dealt with a lot recently so if you are staying then be a good
little boy.”
Letting go he rubbed his shoulder laughing.
“One thing Lain I am not a little boy. I am eighteen.”
Kibo and Bren rolled their eyes seeing how the almost cat fight was going.
They decided to shove them both out the the bed. Lain cracks up looking to
the kids as they lay down falling asleep.
Thaddeus looks to Lain then to the bed.
“Where are we going to sleep since they took the bed?”
I shrug getting up off the floor.
“One more thing, what is with that power seriously?”
I sit down in a chair letting out a sigh. This guy didn’t know enough to just
shut the hell up.
“Look I am not a normal were. Let me say it like this...if you have a huge
room filled with fighters. You need someone who is stronger to be able to
manage them. That is what my powers are like. To be honest I am still
learning a shit load about them.”
Thaddeus leans down with his face close enough his breath warmed my face.
“You really are a weird one Lain.”
His deep violet eyes were pretty even if they belonged to an annoying brat
like him.
