Further away in one of the benches in the large area, M0 remained sat down between M1’s legs, a soft smile on his lips as he happily gazed at the mixture of soldiers and his friends.
“It’s going quite well, actually,” said M0, craning his head back so he could look at M1, a frown still present on his brows. “I don’t understand why you’re so angry, Iru-kun.”
“I’m not angry,” readily dismissed M1, the frown deepening even further as he spoke.
“Then you are doing an excellent job at looking such,” pointed out M0, shortening the distance between their faces and placing a soft kiss on his cheek. “Aren’t you happy to finally have met everyone? Of finally having broken out of the lab and acquiring the freedom that we wanted for ourselves?”
“Of course I am, Rei,” sighed M1, the arms around M0’s waist tightening their hold on it. “I just feel that it’s frustrating that I still haven’t gotten a single second alone with you since you got outside of your cell. So I’m not angry. I believe the word that humans use to describe it is ‘sulking’.”
“Sulking?” repeated M0, his head slightly tilted to the right.
“Yes, sulking,” acknowledged M1, motioning his head forward just half an inch and giving a soft peck in M0’s lips. “Even though I finally get to touch you, to have you by my side after being separated for over 18 years, I’m surrounded by people who keep getting in our way. I can’t stand it and I feel like tearing them to bits every time it happens.”
“The events of right now don’t matter, Iru-kun,” softly breathed M0 against M1’s lips, their foreheads touching. His hand climbed up in the air and softly caressed M1’s features, the pads of his fingers leisurely skirting down his skin. “It’s what’s about to come after we finish these missions. Once that’s done, I don’t care about anything else anymore. As long as you’re with me... take me wherever you want. Be it with the others, be it the two of us only. I just want to make up for all the years we spent apart from one another.”
“I know. I know, Rei, and I feel the exact same,” acknowledged M1, softly kissing the tip of M0’s nose and then once again his lips. “That’s exactly why we shouldn’t meddle and mingle with humans. I think ‘attachments’ are a curse that even us, mass murder machines, can fall victim to. Mitaru, Atsumu, Azuma and Tsugi are free to do as they please... but don’t get too close to the humans, Rei. Because once they read your profile, they will never look at you the same way as before.”
“Neither will they to you,” added M0, a soft smile on his lips. He gave a quick jerk to his head and his lips met once again with M1’s, the kiss prolonging and stretching more and more in time. “But I don’t care about that. I have my ‘sun’ with me. As long as you don’t hate me, Iru-kun, the rest of the world is completely meaningless.”
“You wound me, Rei. There’s no way I would ever hate my ‘Beatrice’,” confessed M1, leaning his back on the backrest of the bench as he brought their bodies closer together. “You’re forever mine, now that we’re free. If someone tries to tear you apart from me, then Hell will be the least of their worries because my ‘Beatrice’ is mine and mine alone. Even if you come to hate me, I won’t let go.”
“Good. Because I don’t want you to let me go. Ever,” softly commanded M0, turning his body around while sitting down on top of M1 so that he could straddle his lap and face him directly at the same time. He softly cupped M1’s face and their foreheads once again met with each other, the two lovingly staring at one another’s eyes.
“One plus zero can only be one. Even if we are two, we are still one,” said M0 and M1 in unison, a bright smile present in both of their faces. “And nothing can ever change that... not even us.”
“I love you, Rei,” whispered M1 against M0’s lips as he softly rubbed the tip of his nose against his cheek. “I have for over 18 years and I will continue to love you until my last breath.”
“I love you too, Iru-kun,” also whispered M0, his arms wrapping around M1’s neck and tightly hugging into his body. “I have since before I first opened my eyes and I don’t think even my last breath will take that away from me.”
“I think there’s a human word to describe this,” chuckled M1, his hand softly running through M0’s soft locks of hair. “I believe it was called... ‘devotion’.”
“Hm... I like the sound of that word,” hummed M0 in acknowledgement, taking his head from near M1’s shoulder and peering at him with a bright and satisfied smile on his face.
“Devotion. Noun. Loyalty and love or care for someone or something. Religious worship,” chanted M1 the entry that he had memorized in his head about that word, intending on making M0 grow even fonder of it – but winding up being him the one growing a new and stronger attachment to the word. They truly were foolish beings.
“Got it,” acknowledged M0, M1’s lips once again meeting with his when M1 motioned his head forward and grabbed even more strongly into his slim waist. “Ngh... Ir—“
“Okay, everyone! Time to pack our things and get inside of the airplane!” yelled Murayama with a voice loud enough to echo through the whole area. “We set off in 20 minutes!”
“I want to kill him,” softly groaned M1, his face falling against M0’s shoulder. “Just let me kill that one. I won’t touch anyone else but let me kill Yamase. I’ve got this annoying feeling in the back of my head telling me that getting rid of him now will save us from a lot of trouble in the future.”
Chuckling softly, M0 kissed the top of M1’s head and detached his body from him.
“No can do, Iru-kun. We promised Mitsu-san to not kill any of the soldiers in the list. So no killing for now.”
