We were being sucked into the mouth of the Aquarian Gigawhale. My only thought: I'm going to die, this is the end. My last moments will be being swallowed by a giant fucking monster. But as I thought all these horrible things, something shot out of the defense tower and hit the whale's head. It exploded into a burst of light that flooded the sub. I had to look away from the driver's end. I looked out the right side window and I saw another mass of green slowly growing.
"Driver! Move! We have to go now!!!" I screamed.
There was no response. He just blankly stared forward. Hands by his sides frozen in fear.
"Get a hold of yourself! Go, go, go! Another one is coming! Why won't you move?!" I desperately yelled.
He was still unresponsive. I think he's dead, or maybe deaf. He was quiet and didn't move at all. His hands slowly moved up and he looked at them in disbelief. Thank God he's not dead. I let him have a few seconds to himself. He was a normal citizen after all, I'm pretty sure that he's never had that much exposure to something as monstrous as that. I've never even seen a monster like that in person. But we still needed to move.
"Wake up and get moving!" I yelled.
"Oh, right..." the driver whispered.
The sub began to move. Slowly, the sub crawled forward. It was quiet again. The silence almost as deafening as the whale explosion. Again and again the image of the whale coming at us played in my brain, and even though I wasn't in the front row, it was still terrifying. The monster's teeth at least as big as me, piercing the roof of the sub. Water rushing in. Another tooth piercing through the roof, this time it puncturing my back. Red blood flowing everywhere as briny salt water stings my exposed flesh. Attempting to gasp for air as my lungs are already destroyed from the tooth. Coughing up blood and bits of my organs. Water fills the whole sub and we begin to sink. My consciousness begins to fade...
"Mr. Gjalund, w-what was tha-that?" The driver said.
"That was a demon," I replied.
The driver seemed like he was back to normal. Going to the Gakuen Spiral Defense Tower was a slow process. But we eventually arrived. We entered the port and the wall opened up. An arm came out attaching itself to the side of the sub. The airlocks opened, a slight wind blew into the sub, probably from a slight pressure difference. I stepped out and the driver did too.
"I'm going to use the restroom now, is that okay?" The driver said.
"That's the least we can do for all the trouble we've put you through," I responded without thinking.
Oh shit, did I just reveal our secret? Why the hell did I say "for all the trouble we've put you through" as though it was my fault. I mean it partially is, but a citizen should never know that. Citizens will never know about the aliens attacking us. That whale was coming after me, I kinda feel bad that I put that driver in danger, but I mean he's just a regular citizen so I really don't care what happens to him. But stuff like that is super rare, so rare that it's never even happened before. Maybe I'll make him my personal driver, his pay will increase for sure, and he'll get increased security. Plus if he figures out something he wouldn't be put into solitary confinement for the rest of his life. You know what, I will do that.
I began walking down the hall to my meeting with the defense committee. I checked in with the woman at the counter and signed in. I opened the large iron doors to the conference room and sat at the end of the table amongst 17 other high officials. I was the last one to arrive, which was only expected since that monster tried to attack me, but was normal nonetheless. It was almost like a tradition that I was to arrive last every single meeting. The meeting began.
"Mr. Gjalund, I'd like to thank you for coming to this meeting," the Defense Committee President, Samson Rodriguez, said.
"Let's see what you have to offer," I replied.
"Today we have something very important to discuss," the Vice President of the Defense Committee, Jack Denza, said with a shaky voice.
"Yes. Something that has never occurred before. Something rather odd and difficult to comprehend," the Chief of Data and Analysis of the Defense Committee, Ann Griamore, said.
"Oh? What's that?" I said with an attitude of interest.
"Oh this is nothing to be happy about," Ann grimly stated.
"Ok then, I need to know, right? Is that not why I'm here?" I said.
Everyone in the room looked at Samson. He simply nodded.
"They have contacted us, they have something extremely odd, and want to trade it to us in return for peace," Samson said, his face was frozen.
"You must be kidding, right?" I yelled in disbelief.
"No, this isn't a joke," Jack said quite sternly.
"They have a human, encased in ice. They say that this human has been here for thousands of years before we even arrived. They said she came in some sort of primitive spacecraft and that it hit the surface of the ocean and fell apart on impact." Ann explained.
"They're actually here right now," Samson said.
A young woman in a long white lab coat stepped out of the side room. She appeared human, but according to everyone else she wasn't.
"She's stable. She's in the room where you told me to put her. Can I leave now?" The girl said filled with frustration.
"Yes, go back to where you came from," Samson harshly replied.
She went back into the room and closed the door.
"They sent her here, they said that we only had an hour to decide, so I compiled right away. I know you would have done the same thing, Mr. Gjalund, so I accepted," Samson said, he seemed sheepish.
"You did a good thing, and rescued a human from them. Next time make sure to consult with me though," I replied
He just nodded. The room became silent, the meeting was basically over now. All that was left was to go to see the girl encased in ice.
