Emmett moved to the other side of the building where he could more easily watch the road leading into the parking lot.

To make it easier for his ex to spot him.

To hide his actions from Tab.

He knew the car as soon as it pulled in. Not by make and model but he'd certainly spent enough times on, against and inside of it to know every detail.

It had gotten dark now and Emmett had leaned up against a light pole to wait, still drinking, still smoking. The driver spotted him easily, ignoring parking spaces to pull up right beside him. Emmett couldn't see through the tinted windows. The dull beat of music within sounded vaguely familiar.

The engine went silent. His ex stepped out of the car. Leather jacket, tight pants, a studded cowboy boot with a little bit of heel. Emmett couldn't help but smile. He's always hated being those couple of inches shorter than me.

Emmett crossed to the car, tilting his head so he could get a better look at his ex in the half light. "Wow, Edan. You actually came."

"And you're actually here. I was certain you were lying."

"How cold."

"You've done worse."

"You think so?"

Edan didn't bother explaining. He didn't need to. There were plenty of options to choose from.

"Well, I'm here. So what are you going to do?" Emmett gave him a smirk. That one. Arched eyebrows, eyes narrowed, lips slightly parted and a quirk to one side of his mouth. Well?

Edan lifted his chin, his look of determination almost a glare as they stared eye-to-eye. No, not quite. Emmett was still a little taller. Edan seemed to notice and he seemed mad about it.

His hands found Emmett's waist. Found? He knew exactly where it was. He guided Emmett backwards, slowly pinning him up against the car. When he spoke it was into Emmett's ear, a ragged whisper that stirred the fine hairs on his neck. It gave him goosebumps and stirred something else too.

"Just remember that you were the one crying 'touch me' on the phone."

"I'm well aware." Emmett answered with impatience, pulling Edan against him and into a kiss. Edan was quick to oblige.

It was always his hair that had gotten him before. A thick dark mane that he’d worn long in their younger days. It was shorter now. There was nothing to run his fingers through while they kissed.

He hated it.

The stubble that scratched against his skin as Edan turned his chin to feed deeper. That was also new.

And he hated that too.

The growing bulge that Edan only had to press gently against his thigh to make him gasp.

He'd really, really, missed that.

Curse this asshole's body for being perfect. He wanted to look like it as much as he wanted to be held by it. Getting fucked by it was the closest he would ever get to owning it.

Emmett grabbed Edan's hips, pulled him hard against his own need and shuddered at the contact. In turn, Edan bit down hard on Emmett's lower lip, forcing a cry to escape between his gasps. It would probably be bruised tomorrow. Nice.

Edan opened the back door of the car. "Get in." Edan needn't have said it. They both knew the dance well. Emmett was already in the process of trying to get Edan's belt off before he sat down.

"Emmett!"

Things suddenly went very still. A glance showed Tab coming around the back side of the car. His eyes were wide and shiny, his body tense and slightly behind him he was holding a 2x4 as if it were a bat. "Are you ok Emmett?"

Emmett laughed.

"Kid, what the fuck are you doing?"

"Answer me."

"Would you fight him off of me if I told you to?" It's the alcohol making me mock him. It's Edan being here.

"Stop joking for once and just answer the question." Tab shouted it and Emmett thought he saw a tear fly loose from the kid's eyelashes.

"Nothing is happening that I don't want." No, it's just me. I am just cold and cruel.

Tab stared intently at Emmett, trying to read his expression. Emmett's humor faltered and he looked away. "Just go."

Emmett didn't look again but he could hear the slap of sneakers hurrying off into the distance. He put his hands back on Edan's waist but his ex pushed him away. When he looked into Edan's face all he saw was a cold glare.

"What the fuck is wrong with you Emmett?"

To those who read Devour, I'm sure Edan playing the 'ex' is no surprise.
