I pushed Thaddeus back just rolling my eyes.
“Yeah and a kid who shoots fire killing for a living isn’t weird?”
He laughs then sits down on the couch. It looked like he felt a little too
comfy with us. I didn’t care for the moment since I wanted to get some sleep.
Thaddeus watches as everyone falls asleep. It was his first time seeing more
then one type of were traveling together. In a soft voice he speaks to
himself.
“This is going to be fun pissing you off.”
He laughs to himself then lays down on the couch. In the morning Lain
notices that Thaddeus is a hard sleeper. She wakes Kibo and Bren quietly
then leaves the room.
“We don’t want that annoying asshole stalking us.”
The kids laughed as looking to my annoyed face. I don’t know why but that
kid just bugged me to much. We head into the city getting a meal then leave.
It was best to put some space between Thaddeus and us. After six hours
Thaddeus finally wakes up.
When he sees that they left he starts to laugh.
“Oh you want to run away from me? You will have to do much better then
this Lain.”
As he spoke a chill went down Lain’s spine. They had stopped to eat their
lunch. Bren couldn’t help but to poke Lain.
“Thinking about him?”
Just his one sentence got him a bonk on the head.
“Don’t even speak of mister flame thrower. I swear that brat is going to be
a massive pain in the ass.”
Kibo smiled eating her food but was giggling under her breathe.
“At the rate we are going we will hit the small village of Roses by night fall.
They don’t care what your species is long as you are paying.”
Bren looked relieved to hear that. Although we have dealt with good and bad,
it was nice to know some just didn’t care at all. Thaddeus grabbed his
belongings. Once out of the gate he threw a small orb. It transformed into a
hover bike.
“No way you are losing me with this. If you are walking then Roses should
be my stop.”
A smirk came to his lips imagining the pissed off look Lain would have
towards him.
Thaddeus looked to the speed on the bike.
"Shit I need to go faster...Were’s are not slow.”
His bike hit 200 miles per hour. In that instance a bird almost knocked him
off his bike. He fixed his markings on the bike letting it drive automatically.
Grabbing the bird he threw it over his shoulder.
“I swear that happens every fucking time I drive this thing. Am I jinxed or
something?”
During this time Lain and her group continued onto the city. When they
arrived they find a small hotel. It was on the edge of the city. Kibo and Bren
went to get dinner at the restaurant next to the hotel. Lain was just checking
out the city. When night fell Thaddeus had finally caught up. Seemed the
birds really liked hitting him on the bike. As he looked around he saw Kibo
and Bren headed back to the hotel. Thaddeus makes his boke return to orb
form.
Bren walks upstairs while holding Kibo’s hand. Lain smiles peeking at them
out of the door of their room. Her smile turns into a annoyed look when she
spots Thaddeus.
“Shit! Why can’t you just go away mister flame thrower?”
Bren and Kibo look behind them not even knowing he had been following
them up to the room. Thaddeus walks over kissing Lain’s cheek with a smug
ass smile.
“Oh, the old lady wants to get rid of me that easily? Sorry but not going to
happen. By the way remember my name is Thaddeus not mister flame
thrower.”
The kids sit down looking to me with questioning expressions.
“You’re a pain in the ass Thaddeus. Oh, and just to let you know the name
is Lain not old lady.”
The kids could see that neither of the two was going to give an inch to one
another. Kibo stood up walking over to Thaddeus. She took his hand shaking
it.
“Please me nice to us.”
I couldn’t help but to sigh seeing Kibo. Who would have thought the child
would act more mature. Bren burst out laughing at my defeated face. Kibo
had a knack for changing the aura of a room fast.
“Um...sure I guess kid.”
Thaddeus really didn’t know how to reply to her. He thought she was
adorable but a little lifeless with her eyes.
“So where are you going from here LAIN and not old lady?”
I swear he was trying to piss me off now. Running a hand through my hair I
sigh again.
“Right now we are resting a few days. I want to figure out where would be
the best place to go next.”
Thaddeus sat down on the edge of the bed thinking.
“If you are going to ruins then what about the ones in Kings. I know most
people don’t think of visiting there but you are going to ruins. There is
rumor there was once a facility of some sort there.”
For once this brat might be useful. I sit down next to him while looking to the
kids.
“Alright, it is something to go on. I’ve got to find everything I can to stop
what they did.”
I could see the confusion in Thaddeus’s eyes. While sitting there I explain
everything we know to this point. I think I might have broke him for a
moment. His face looked more blank then when I met Kibo. After a momen
t she slapped his face looking to mine.
“Your fucking kidding right? Holy shit that is too messed up. Although I
have to admit it would explain so much about our world.”
He placed a hand on mine with his annoying smirk.
“I’ll help you out if I can. Although can’t say I will not annoy you to death.”
Kibo and Bren crack up at his last comment. They already knew he was
working on being her number one headache.
