There were always people surrounding him. There was always someone who wanted to gain favor with him. And every single one of them looked at him with awe. As the sole heir of the prestigious Rosenwood Conglomerate, Sebert was already used to it.
So having a little guy clearly ignore him and even glare at him was pretty amusing.
Though the little guy did stare at him before he introduced himself it was not with a look full of awe. In fact, Sebert couldn’t guess the feelings hidden inside those eyes.
So he didn’t feel annoyed when his mother asked him to take the little boy to the buffet area.
He stared with amazement as the boy made a pile of food that seemed higher than him.
He wondered if that little body could really eat everything.
Sebert couldn’t contain his laugh as the boy started eating and made a face full of contentment.
The boy heard it and stared defiantly. He looked like a little kitten showing his little claws after being teased.
How cute.
Nolan Riverstone. That was the name of the first child to ever catch his attention.
He wanted to keep paying attention to him, but soon people surrounded him again. Unlike the child, these people were all trying to flatter him, and all of them showed the desire of forming a better relationship with him. He was long accustomed to being surrounded by such people.
No matter if it was in reality or inside the strange dreams that plagued him his entire life, there was no one who treated him like that little guy...
“Why doesn’t he look at me like this?”
Sebert thought.
He tried to imagine the scene. A beautiful little guy looking at him with eyes full of awe...
Sebert smiled. He thought this feeling would be quite good.
He then glanced to the side where he thought he would see the little guy filling his mouth with food...
Instead, he had turned his head fast enough to see the little guy with red cheeks drop his cup of juice and faint. The sound of broken glass called the attention of the alphas around the buffet.
With quick steps, he went to the boy’s side just in time of catching him before he fell from his chair. He could scent a faint pungent yet sweet scent coming from the child.
Carefully, as for not cutting his fingers on the broken glass pieces, Sebert touched the viscous dark red liquid on the floor and smelled it.
As he thought, it wasn’t juice, but wine.
Who was the careless bastard who left a cup of alcohol next to a child?
Sebert blamed himself. Why was he talking with those greedy people instead of paying attention to the child?
He carefully took the child in his arms. He was so small, so... fragile. Another ‘pang’ of guilt hit him.
Sebert didn’t look back at those profit-seeking people as he carried the little guy, searching for a place where he could take care of the child.
He asked a beta maid if there was any room he could use. The maid respectfully pointed to him where the guest rooms were. With quick steps, Sebert went to the nearest room: a small but well-decorated room with only two sofas and a small table in it.
Carefully, the young alpha laid Nolan onto the sofa and then planned to go back to the party and find the child’s parents. Who knew what effects the alcohol would bring to this young body?
However, as if guessing what Sebert was thinking, Nolan slowly woke up and started to make trouble. Sebert helplessly tried to make the boy go back to sleep before he could go back to the party to find the Riverstone couple.
But soon he would forget his goal as he heard the drunk talk of the boy.
He never thought this drunk encounter would drastically change his destiny.
