I felt an overpowering feeling coming from her. I had felt it once before when a I had broken a vase after running in the hall. Without thinking I grabbed Johnathan’s hand and we ran off into the garden. When we were out of sight of Christian, I stopped running. I felt Johnathan pull his hand away from me. I turned towards him, “I am so sorry. I grabbed your hand without thinking. Christian though is scary if you don’t do as she says.” I stammered and realized I didn’t slur any of my words.
“Tsk.” He looked away and walked over to some of the flowers to the side. I sighed and noticed this play date they had made, wasn’t going to go far. I walked over to the small fountain in the middle of the garden and leaned over to watch the water create ripples. I heard some footsteps behind me and glanced over my shoulder to see an odd figure in all black with a hood walking towards Johnathan. They must have not seen me by the fountain as they grabbed him. They muffled Johnathan’s voice and I finally realized; he was getting kidnapped. I quickly ran over and hit the man in the leg trying to help him get free as he struggled. The figure kicked me, and I fell against the ground. I noticed I had scrapped up my hands a little and got back up. I grabbed a rock near the side and ran back towards the figure and hit him with it. The figure let out a small yell as they turned and hit me in the face. My eye patch came un done and my eye quickly adjusted to the light. I noticed suddenly a blurry figure near the man taking Johnathan.
“Elizabeth?” I wondered as I got back to my feet as the man turned to run. I grabbed hold of his leg though before he could go. Johnathan finally was able to bite the man causing him to let go. I could hear guards suddenly start to yell as I let go of the man as he ran off. Johnathan was crying as I noticed he had been dropped on some rocks. He was holding his arm and I noticed it was swelling up quickly. I sat up and removed my scarf. I walked over to him and got to my knees. I grabbed his arm without thinking and wrapped my scarf around his arm and neck, creating a sling. He held his arm as he sniffled and looked at me.
“Prince Johnathan! Prince!” I turned around to see his maid followed by Christian. She quickly picked up Prince Johnathan and looked at Christian, who had picked me up, “We need to bring them inside now.” Christian nodded and they both hurried out of the garden. As they left the garden, I noticed the blurry figure vanish from the garden.
“My son, where is he?” I heard a loud voice bellow down the hall as a stalky man appeared next to Father. I covered my green eye with my hand as he approached, “How did this happen! You were supposed to watch him, women.”
I looked at the other maid who had terror on her face as she didn’t know how to reply. Christian looked over at the man and bowed while holding me, “King Johnathan the Third, it is my fault. I told her they would be fine in the garden. I didn’t think someone would be able to get inside.”
“How dare you speak, when not spoken for.” He yelled as Father grabbed his hand as he went to hit her.
“I would like you to not hit my property.” I looked at Christian who was still bowing her head.
“How dare he claims he owns her. She is a human like them.” I thought to myself.
“We came here to talk about our two kingdoms future, and now you dare to touch me.”
Father let go and his eyes narrowed, “I will punish her myself. Let’s get your child taken care of though. He looks to have gotten hurt badly. You don’t want the next in line, having only one arm. We have a doctor working here and he should be in one of the guest rooms. One of my other maids will show you.” I noticed both Jessie and Remona. Remona walked over to King Johnathan and gestured to follow her. He turned around and his maid quickly followed behind while holding Prince Johnathan.
“Jessica, I need you to take my son to also be checked by the doctor. I need to talk with this maid.”
Jessie hurried over and took me from Christian. I looked at her for a moment to see her eyes looked completely dead. As though she was telling me goodbye and at the same time, she was saying good riddance. I didn't understand where all this hate was coming from suddenly.
