The air had cleared up, the rain was minimal as a light mist, and standing just a block away was a carriage waiting with the footman waiting by the door.
“Now, now,” Crow chuckled, patting Will's shoulder. “Before you get jealous–”
“–Who would be jealous?” Will cut in as they started toward the carriage.
“I want you to know that I'm just as much a virgin as you are.” Crow continued as if Will hadn't cut in. “I only observed people gettin' it on and heard them bangin'. Never did anything like that myself.”
“Yeah, right.” Will scoffed turning to look away. That bang on my head is making me talk like an idiot!
Crow caught Will's arm, pulling him to a stop. Confused, Will looked to his face. It startled him so much that Will's eyes went wide. Crow looked Will in the eye seriously as he spoke, “I've only ever wanted you.” So, I'll wait. I'll wait forever. I'll wait until I'm senile, and then I'll keep on waiting.
Will's face softened and he nodded a bit awkwardly. I've... I've got nothing to say to that. I can't proclaim to love him that much when I – wait... Love?
Will was quiet, lost in thought, as Crow led him to the carriage and inside. “To the Bel'vaz Estate,” he instructed the footman before getting in.
He sat down on the bench across from Will, watching him quietly for a few minutes. As the carriage bumped around gently on their way to the estate, Will would glance up to Crow every now and then but not say anything.
Finally, Crow spoke up when they were almost there. “You don't have to weigh your love on a balance, Will.”
“Huh?” Will asked, looking up to him.
“The fact is, your love and my love will never be equal.” He explained with a smile. “Not even identical. Because we're two different people.”
“Oh,” Will smiled a bit. He's trying to comfort me. “Yeah.” He paused, looking out the window at the dim whitewashed daylight outside. All of the buildings looked bright in the light, but because everything was wet, they appeared equally lonely.
Crow waved his hand forward, catching Will's attention back to him. “That doesn't mean your love is any less valid.”
“You make it sound like that bump on my head knocked all of the love I have for you right out.” Will answered, a small smile on his lips.
“Well,” Crow chuckled, “You are acting a bit less...guarded? You feeling okay?”
“The daylight helps.” Will answered with a nod, looking back out the window.
